Alyssa Endrick – Lock Haven University (Field Hockey)

Major: Sports Management

Final list of colleges:  Lock Haven, Widener

Reasons for choosing Lock Haven:  “The location and how dedicated the coaches were. I talked to (assistant coach) Anna Rogers and PR (coach Pat Rudy), and they made me feel welcome when I wasn’t even there yet.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in field hockey at the collegiate level? “Probably last year I started to really consider it, and I started emailing coaches when I would have showcases and stuff. It really narrowed down this year to those two schools, and I picked Lock Haven.”

Coach Pat Toner says:  “Alyssa did a great job for us this year. She’s just a heads-up player. She scored the winning goal on a corner to beat Downingtown West in the opening round of districts. Her goal wasn’t a shock, but it was a shock that the 16th seed beat the first seed. I’m really proud of her. She led the team as a captain along with Sophia Wasyliw, and they did a great job. Anything I asked her to do – she was willing to do. She worked hard to improve. Her stick work is very good, and she’s quick. We moved Alyssa and everyone else around, and it took all season until we found the exact right lineup, and when we did, we managed to finish in the final four in districts. It was in large part her willingness to try different positions. She just played very hard and is a dedicated kid.”
