MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Senior Brandon Pomerantz (Council Rock North) finished 87th overall and second for Lock Haven in the prestigious gold race at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University. Pomerantz ran the 8K course in 24:51.
Sophomore Matt Wikler (Council Rock North) finished 210th in the Paul Short Invitational to lead Villanova’s ‘C’ team. Wikler ran a personal best of 25:37 in the 8K race.
Sophomore Tyler Jones (Central Bucks West) led LaSalle to a ninth place overall finish at the Penn State Nationals on Friday. Jones ran a 25:32 on the 8K course to cross the line ninth out of 130 runners.  In the prestigious Paul Short Invitational on Oct. 2, Jones placed 26th out of 386 finishers with a time of 24:13, leading LaSalle to a ninth place finish out of 42 teams in the race.
Sophomore Owen Ward (Harry S. Truman) led Chestnut Hill to a 22nd place finish out of 25 teams at the Gettysburg College Invitational on Saturday.  Ward finished the race with a time of 29:06.86.
WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Freshman Katie Gorman (Plymouth Whitemarsh) helped James Madison University to an eighth place finish out of 40 teams in the Paul Short Invitational’s ‘Gold’ Division. Gorman finished 91st with a time of 21:52 in the 6K.
Theresa Gould (Hatboro-Horsham) was one of Lock Haven’s top five runners in Friday’s Penn State Nationals. The Lady Eagles took 13th place in a field that included several of the nation’s top Division I programs.
Senior Andrea Kellock (North Penn) finished fourth in Bloomsburg’s third place finish at the Leopard Invitational at Lafayette College on Saturday.
LaSalle University’s Bridget Tull (Council Rock North) finished 71st out of a field of 100 runners with a time of 25:15.80 at the Leopard Invitational at Lafayette College on Saturday. She was the second LaSalle runner to cross the finish line.
Philadelphia University sophomore Sarah Simonetti (Pennridge) earned Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference weekly ‘Honorable Mention’ accolades.
FIELD HOCKEY
Freshman Deanna DiCroce (Central Bucks West) is the leading scorer for Lafayette. She has contributed 10 goals and two assists and has started 13 of 14 games for Lafayette, which is 10-4 on the season.
Dottie O’Neil (Bensalem) is the leading scorer for Gwynedd Mercy. The sophomore forward, who has started all 15 games, has scored 18 goals and contributed seven assists.  Freshman Erin Gorenflo (Plymouth Whitemarsh) also has started all 15 games for the Griffins, who are 10-5 on the season.
Freshman Meg Mundy (Plymouth Whitemarsh) has started all 14 games at midfield for Kings College, which is 8-6 on the season.
Senior Breanne Tobin (Pennridge) contributed an assist in top-ranked Bloomsburg’s 3-0 win over No. 3 East Stroudsburg on Friday.
Freshman Michelle Pieczynski (Central Bucks West) has started at 15 games for Monmouth University, contributing five goals and one assists. Monmouth has a 7-8 record so far this season.
Drexel, ranked 12th in the latest polls, notched wins over Penn (4-1) and Villanova (5-2) to complete its sweep of city schools. Freshman Jenna Phillips (Hatboro-Horsham) has started all 15 games in goal and boasts a .707 save percentage. Junior defensive back Megan Keller (Hatboro-Horsham) also has started all 15 games. Freshman Amanda Fleischut (Central Bucks West) has seen action in 11 games and scored one goal.
Sophomore Leslie Pyle (Plymouth Whitemarsh) has started all 13 games in the defensive backfield for the University of Iowa, which notched a 1-0 win over Penn State on Sunday. The Hawkeyes are 5-8 on the season.
Sophomore Jessica Longstreth (Council Rock North) scored a goal in Penn State’s 2-1 win over Bucknell on Tuesday.
Junior Katie O’Donnell (Wissahickon) had a pair of assists in Maryland’s 4-0 win over Delaware on Sunday. The win upped the top-ranked Terps’ record to 16-0.
Casey Hughes (Souderton) scored a goal on a penalty corner in Lock Haven’s 4-0 win over St. Francis on Sunday. The win is the 29th straight for Lock Haven over a NEC opponent and runs the Lady Eagles all-time conference record to 41-2. Lock Haven is 5-0 in NEC competition and 14-3 overall. On Friday, Hughes also scored on a penalty corner in Lock Haven’s 6-0 win over Robert Morris. Lindsay Staufenburg (Norristown) combined with teammate Erin Terreeson for the shutout in goal.
Junior Brittany Kocis (Central Bucks East) assisted on a goal in East Stroudsburg’s 3-0 win over Slippery Rock on Sunday. The Warriors are 13-5 on the season.
Freshman Rebecca Chylack (Souderton) scored a goal on a penalty corner in LaSalle’s 5-1 win over Saint Louis on Sunday. Chylack now has 21 points on the season, which ranks her sixth on LaSalle’s all-time list.
Junior Megan Purcell (Pennridge) had 15 saves in Widener’s 4-1 loss to top-ranked Messiah.
FOOTBALL
Caleb Ruch (Quakertown) is a starter on the offensive line for a Rutgers University football team that is 4-2. Ruch was named a member of the ‘top offensive line in the Big East,’ by Athlon Sports.
Nate Dixon (Quakertown) played in all six games for Lafayette. He has five solo tackles and nine assists for Lafayette, which is 5-1.
Matt Freed (Souderton) was named the PSAC East Football Player of the Week for the fourth time in his career for his performance in East Stroudsburg’s 27-20 overtime victory on Saturday. Freed, a redshirt junior, had a career-best performance for the Warriors, matching his career-high with 16 tackles, including 14 solo stops, which are tied for the most in Division II this season. He also had a sack and forced fumble to end Kutztown’s second possession of the game at the five-yard line and is the PSAC’s leading tackler with 10.4 per game (83 tackles in eight games) for the second straight season. He also leads ESU and is tied for fourth in the PSAC with 6.0 sacks and has 9.5 tackles for a loss. Freed was a three-time PSAC East Defensive Player of the Week last season on his way to earning All-America honors as a redshirt sophomore. He was tied for sixth in Division II with 11.5 tackles per game and had 126 tackles, 11.0 tackles for a loss, 4.0 sacks and four interceptions.
Jordan Waxman (Quakertown) has connected on six-of-eight on field goal attempts for the University of Maine, which is 3-4 on the season.
MEN’S SOCCER
Goalie Kurt Pleier (Abington), a redshirt sophomore, did not allow a goal in a half of action in Millersville’s 3-0 win over the University of the District of Columbia. It was Millersville’s 10th shutout of the season and upped the Marauders record to 12-1.
Freshman Ryan Jones (Council Rock South) has started all 13 games for Marywood this season and has contributed two goals and four assists. Marywood is 4-1 in conference play and 6-6-1 overall.
Ryan Richter (William Tennent) scored twice on Sunday, including the equalizer to force overtime, as LaSalle played Richmond to a 3-3 tie after two overtimes. Richter’s four-point game included the opening score in the 20th minute and the tying goal with just 1:21 left in regulation. Jim Clark (William Tennent) was in goal for the Explorers.
Junior Mike Pio (William Tennent) scored the equalizer in the second half of LaSalle’s game against George Washington on Friday, but the Explorers fell 2-1 in overtime.
 Tom Antonucci (Central Bucks South) is the leading scorer for Delaware Valley College, contributing 17 goals and seven assists through 13 games for the Aggies (6-7-1). Twice he was named the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Division Player of the Week.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Freshman Eva Gimello (Neshaminy) was part of a standout defensive effort in The College of New Jersey’s 1-0 win over Richard Stockton College on Wednesday. The shutout was the sixth straight for 18th ranked TCNJ.
Freshman goalie Gabrielle Pakhtigian (North Penn) notched her third solo shutout of the season in LaSalle’s 1-0 win over Temple on Friday. Pakhtigian made a pair of saves to improve to 4-2 on the season. LaSalle is 9-5-2 overall (3-3-1 in the A-10).
Whitney Weinraub (Council Rock South) is the top scorer for the University of Charlotte. Through 16 games, she has 11 goals and four assists for Charlotte, which is 7-0-1 in A-10 play and 13-2-1 overall.
MEN’S SWIMMING
Sophomore Joe Keefe (Neshaminy) was part of Shippensburg’s 200 medley relay that recorded a time of 1:40.77 to win the top medal in that event in Sunday’s 108-97 win over Drexel. Junior Tim Smullen (Upper Dublin) won the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.39 seconds.  
WOMEN’S TENNIS
Alexis Dorr (Central Bucks East) is playing fourth singles for the University of Iowa tennis team.
Courtney Boger (Central Bucks East) has a 5-1 record in singles and a 4-2 record in doubles for Johns Hopkins this fall. Her doubles partner, Ellen Berlinghof (Upper Dublin), boasts a 6-2 record in singles. Andrea Berlinghof (Upper Dublin) is 5-1 in singles play and 3-3 in doubles.
Morgan Scalzi (Central Bucks East) is 6-1 in singles play and 2-0 in doubles competition for a Stevens Institute of Technology squad that is 10-2 this season.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Christina Laury (Hatboro-Horsham) led Lock Haven’s defense with 32 digs in wins over Seton Hall (3-0) and American International (3-0) at the Bob Chu Invitational on Saturday. She 13 aces in Lock Haven’s 3-0 win over Cheney at the Bob Chu Invitational on Friday. On Tuesday, Laury had 11 digs in Lock Haven’s 3-0 win over East Stroudsburg. It was the 10th straight win for the Lady Eagles.
