MEN’S BASKETBALL
Julian Bond (Plymouth Whitemarsh) connected on a pair of three-pointers and scored 12 points in Lock Haven’s 74-67 loss to Urbana on Sunday.
Gwynedd-Mercy senior Dan DelConte (Wissahickon) earned honor roll status as selected by the Colonial States Athletic Conference for the week ending Dec. 12. DelConte averaged 20 points in a 3-1 week as he was named MVP of the Harold J. Brodie Tournament at RIT, helping the Griffins to the title. He netted 23 of his 29 points in the second half on 9-of-20 shooting and had six three-pointers in the win over Utica (97-93) as Gwynedd rallied from a double-digit deficit. The next day in the title game against the host Tigers, he scored 20 points and had five assists and three steals in a 69-66 win. In Monday’s win over PSU-Berks, he totaled 15 points and four assists and in Wednesday’s game vs. league-leading Cabrini, he scored 16 points. DelConte leads the CSAC in scoring (22.2 PPG). He is shooting 48.9 percent (67-137) from the floor, including a league-leading 32 three-pointers made and a 56-for-66 (84.8 percent) stint at the free throw line.
DelConte scored a game-high 28 points, including the 1,000th of his career, to help lead Gwynedd-Mercy to an 88-78 non-league win over Rowan on Tuesday night. His milestone moment came at the 14:09 mark of the second half when he stepped to the free throw line and connected on the second of two.
CJ Aiken (Plymouth Whitemarsh) had 11 points and four block shots in St. Joseph’s 74-58 win over Villanova in front of a standing room only crowd at Hagan Arena. The Hawks went on top 50-39, but Villanova closed to within single digits. Aiken converted a three-point play and then delivered a one-handed dunk off a behind-the-back pass from teammate Carl Jones to give SJU a 60-47 lead. It marked the first time that the Philadelphia Big 5 rivals had played on St. Joe’s campus.
Sophomore Fran Rafferty (Upper Merion) contributed 13 points and nine rebounds in #11 Cabrini College’s 
71-68 win over Scranton on Saturday. Junior Goran Dulac (Pennsbury) added five points and four rebounds.
Jim Connolly (Souderton) scored a season-high 24 points, which included six three-pointers, in Philadelphia University’s 78-56 win over the University of the Sciences on Saturday afternoon. Teammate Nick Christian (Bensalem) added 12 points. The Rams finished the game at 50 percent (15-of-30) from three-point range.
Jeff Bishop (Souderton) scored eight points, which included a 4-for-4 effort at the foul line, in Philadelphia Biblical University’s 94-80 win over Marywood University.
Sophomre AJ Picard (Souderton) scored 12 points in Goldey-Beacom’s 73-65 win over Molloy College on Thursday night.
Junior Khalif Wyatt (Norristown) led all scorers with a season-high 24 points on 8-of-14 shooting in Temple’s 77-65 loss to the University of Texas on Saturday afternoon. Wyatt’s 24-point performance marks the 15th straight game he has reached double figures, which is currently the longest streak of any scorer in the Atlantic 10 dating back to last season.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Ashley Rosario (Harry S. Truman) had 12 points, which included a 6-for-6 effort at the foul line, in Goldey-Beacom’s 83-67 win over Lock Haven on Sunday. Heather McHugh (Norristown) scored 11 points, including three three-pointers, for Lock Haven.
Sarah Kiely (Council Rock North) contributed seven points and seven rebounds in American University’s 55-45 win over Troy last Sunday. Six of her rebounds came on the offensive end. The win improved AU’s record to 5-0 in games played away from Bender Arena this season.
Daniella Ciccarone (Quakertown) had five assists in Walsh University’s 82-51 win over host Northwood University on Saturday. She has started all 10 games for Walsh this season and is averaging 10.4 PPG.
Brittany Sandone (Souderton) scored 11 points in Cabrini College’s 46-43 loss to Scranton on Saturday.
Gwynedd-Mercy senior Bryn Cotteta (Norristown) earned honor roll status as selected by the Colonial States Athletic Conference for the week ending Dec. 12. Cotteta averaged 11.5 points, 5.0 assists and 2.5 steals in a 2-0 week. She scored eight points and had six assists, three steals and three rebounds in a 59-49 win over King’s. In Gwynedd’s 68-59 win over DeSales, she scored 15 points, including 9-of-10 from the foul line. She also had six rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Sophomore Natasha Matthews (Norristown) pulled down five rebounds in Gwynedd-Mercy’s 77-76 loss to Montclair State on Saturday.
WOMEN’S SWIMMING
Lebanon Valley freshman Jan Ikeda (North Penn) was named Commonwealth Swimmer of the Week for the week ending Dec. 12. Ikeda helped lead the Dutchmen past King’s 143-58 by winning three events. She captured the 100-yard fly and 200-free and was part of the winning 200-medley relay. Ikeda posted a time of 2:02.52 in the 200-free – the fastest Lebanon Valley time since 1991 – and then won the 100-fly by 10 seconds in 58.91. The medley relay set a new school record in 1:58.46 as she turned in a 26.12 fly split. This was Ikeda’s fourth Swimmer of the Week award after a string of three consecutive awards given Nov. 8, Nov. 14 and Nov. 22.
