BASEBALL
Freshman Keith Moyer (Souderton) struck out five in three innings in his first career appearance to earn the save in East Stroudsburg’s 7-2 win over Saint Augustine on Saturday in Cary, N.C. Moyer scattered four hits in his three-inning stint but picked off the first two batters who reached base.  On Sunday, redshirt sophomore Andy Noga (Cheltenham) pitched four innings, struck out three and allowed two hits and one walk to earn the win in East Stroudsburg’s 13-0 win over Saint Augustine. Freshman Kurtis Roberts (Quakertown) also saw action.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Sophomore Khalif Wyatt (Norristown) scored 12 points off the bench in #24 Temple’s 76-63 win at Dayton on Saturday afternoon. On Wednesday night, senior Lavoy Allen (Pennsbury) pulled down a season and game-high 14 rebounds in Temple’s 77-66 win over Fordham before leaving in the second half with a sprained ankle. Allen moved into third place on the all-time Temple rebound list.
Sophomore guard Jim Connolly (Souderton) scored 27 points in Philadelphia University’s 95-82 loss to Bloomfield on Saturday. The loss broke a three-game winning streak for PhilaU. In Thursday’s 66-57 win over Wilmington University, Connolly scored 14 points while freshman Nick Christian (Bensalem) added nine points.
Freshman A.J. Picard (Souderton) recorded a season-high 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field, which included 4-of-4 from long range, in Goldey-Beacom’s 80-79 loss to Chestnut Hill on Wednesday night.
Bruce Kennedy (Wissahickon) scored 17 points in Cheyney’s come-from-behind 78-72 win over Shippensburg on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 80-64 win over Millersville, Kennedy scored 20 points.
Sophomore Dalton Pepper (Pennsbury) scored nine points and handed out two assists in #25 West Virginia’s 82-71 win over DePaul on Saturday. In Monday’s 71-61 loss to fourth-ranked Pitt, Pepper contributed eight points.
Sophomore guard Derek Brooks (North Penn) contributed 11 points, four assists and a career-high four steals and three blocks in Gettysburg’s 66-57 win over Washington College. Freshman forward Connor Poston (Hatboro-Horsham) contributed seven points and four rebounds in a solid performance off the bench.
Gwynedd-Mercy junior Dan DelConte (Wissahickon) was named The Colonial States Athletic Conference men’s basketball player of the week for the week ending Feb. 6. DelConte averaged 18 points and five rebounds, averaging 37 minutes played in a 3-0 CSAC week for the Griffins. For the season, DelConte averages 13.3 points, 4.1 assists and 2.5 rebounds.
DeConte scored a team-high 19 points in Gwynedd-Mercy’s 77-69 win over Immaculata on Saturday.
Senior Chris McDevitt (Central Bucks West) scored 11 points in Widener’s 65-62 win over Elizabethtown.
Senior forward Dom Farrello (William Tennent) tallied a career-high 33 points in Cabrini’s 90-76 win over Marywood University on Saturday. Sophomore center Goran Dulac (Pennsbury) added six points and pulled down nine rebounds as Cabrini won its 13th straight game and clinched the No. 1 seed for the CSAC Tournament. In Thursday’s 81-59 win over Rosemont, Farrello recorded his sixth career double-double, contributing 18 points and 10 rebounds. He connected on 7-of-11 shots from the field, four-of-six from beyond the arc. Farello’s 1,095 career points moves him to 11th place on the program’s all-time list. Teammate Fran Rafferty (Upper Merion) added 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting. In Monday’s 84-73 win over Gwynedd-Mercy, Farello scored 25 points and pulled down seven rebounds. He drained 4-of-9 attempts from behind the arc and also had four steals. Rafferty scored nine points on 3-of-6 shooting and also had six rebounds. Dulac added seven points and seven rebounds.
Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown) posted a career-high 30 points to lead all scorers in Bloomsburg’s 92-88 win over Kutztown on Saturday night. Christmas connected on 10-of-13 shots from the floor, including 6-of-9 from beyond the arc, and was a perfect 4-for-4 at the foul line. In Wednesday’s 94-81 win over Shippensburg, Christmas scored 20 points.
Lavail Owens (Wissahickon) scored six points in Mansfield’s 74-67 win over Millersville on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 80-66 win over East Stroudsburg, Owens contributed seven points.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Senior guard Taylor Magnus (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored 10 points in Philadelphia University’s 72-63 loss to Bloomfield on Saturday. In Thursday night’s 67-60 win over Wilmington University, Magnus contributed 17 points and six rebounds.
Teanna Ziegler (Souderton) scored eight points in Elizabethtown’s 89-67 loss to Widener on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 61-53 win over Lycoming, Ziegler scored four points, all from the foul line.
Sophomore Danielle Derr (Upper Dublin) contributed eight points and four rebounds in Bloomsburg’s 65-55 win over Shippensburg on Wednesday.
Sophia Waters (Norristown) scored 13 points in No. 24 Millersville’s 69-51 win over Mansfield on Saturday. Mashira Newman (Upper Dublin) added four points. Nicole Pender (Cheltenham) contributed nine points for Mansfield.  In Millersville’s 79-49 win over Cheyney on Wednesday, Waters had nine points while Newman had six.
Sophomore Shakia Robinson (North Penn) contributed a team-high 14 points and added six rebounds in the University of Massachusetts 62-46 loss to George Washington on Saturday.
Heather McHugh (Norristown) scored six points while teammate Kelsey Ryan (Neshaminy) added four points and three rebounds in Lock Haven’s 59-52 win over Slippery Rock on Wednesday.
Junior guard Bryn Cotteta (Norristown) contributed seven points, five assists and three steals in Gwynedd-Mercy’s 87-63 loss to #8 Kean on Wednesday. In Monday’s 66-62 loss to Cabrini, freshman Taylour Alston (North Penn) finished with seven points off the bench and added game highs of 11 rebounds and four blocked shots.
Freshman Brittany Sandone (Souderton) scored eight of her game-high 18 points in OT in Cabrini’s 66-62 win over Gwynedd-Mercy on Monday. She connected on 5-for-11 from the field and also contributed five assists and four rebounds.
Junior Lauren Peters (Central Bucks West) scored 10 points in Holy Family’s 98-51 win over Post University on Saturday afternoon. In Wednesday’s 84-41 win over Georgian Court University, senior Lindsey Tennent (Pennridge) contributed seven points and nine rebounds off the bench. In the most recent polls, Holy Family is ranked second in the NCAA Division II East Region Poll for the third straight week. It is ranked 18th in the recent USA Today/ESPN Division II National Top-25 coaches’ Poll, jumping three spots from 21st to 18th.
Sophomore Mercedes Harris (Norristown) contributed 26 points and 19 rebounds in Montgomery County Community College’s 74-68 win over Luzerne County Community College on Monday night.
La Salle senior Ashley Gale (Cheltenham) was named the GoExplorers.com Athlete of the Month for January as selected by the La Salle Office of Athletic Communications. During the Explorers’ nine games in January, Gale averaged 21.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while shooting .349 from the field. Entering the month, the senior was averaging 15.1 points per game. Gale scored a career-high 31 points during La Salle’s loss to Lehigh on January 2. During the same contest, she also posted six steals, the most by an Explorer in three seasons. Against George Washington, Gale broke the La Salle record for single-season three-point attempts. She notched nine attempts during the contest to put her at 184, which bested the previous record of 175 set during the 2003-04 season. Gale ended the month fourth all-time at the school in career three-point attempts (497), fifth in career three pointers made (161) and second in single-season treys made (67), eighth in career blocks (61) and tied for 10th in career steals (63).
Gale scored 22 points on 8-for-16 shooting from the field in LaSalle’s 72-63 loss to Temple in a Big 5 and Atlantic 10 contest on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 61-49 win over Rhode Island, Gale posted a game-high 21 points, which included a 5-for-12 effort from beyond the arc. She also had five steals, and with 73 this season, she moved into sixth all-time in single season steals. Her 174 career steals are good for seventh all-time on the career list.
Senior Addie Micir (Council Rock North) contributed 14 points, three rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block in Princeton’s 65-43 win over Cornell on Saturday.
Sophomore Madeline Ross (Central Bucks East) poured in a career-high 29 points in Swarthmore’s 80-66 loss to Franklin & Marshall. She scored Swarthmore’s first eight points, including back-to-back threes less than two minutes into the game. Senior Kathryn Stockbower (Upper Dublin) finished with 10 rebounds and five points. In Wednesday’s 62-52 win over Washington College, Ross led the way with a team-high 15 points. Stockbower added 10 points and a game-high 15 rebounds to record the NCAA Division III record 81st double-double of her career.  The Swarthmore senior, who has a double major in biology and German studies, has posted a double-double in 81 of 96 collegiate games. She is Swarthmore’s all-time leading rebounder with 1,289 and has 1,641 career points to rank fourth all-time in school history. She has posted double-figure points in 74 consecutive games, a Centennial Conference record. Stockbower is one of three players in program history with 1,000 career points and rebounds. She is one of only three players in Centennial Conference history with both 1,500 points and 1,000 rebounds.
Erin Gold (Council Rock North) contributed 13 points and a team-high seven assists in Wesleyan’s 79-47 win over Suffolk on Tuesday.
Freshman Sarah Kiely (Council Rock North) scored a career-high 14 points to lead American University to a 66-38 win over Bucknell on Wednesday. Her 14-point performance came on 5-of-8 shooting from the field.  Teammate Liz Leer (Abington) added 10 points.  In Saturday’s 69-49 win over Colgate, Leer led American with a game-high 18 points on 9-of-14 shooting. Kiely added nine points and five rebounds.
Calla Miller (Central Bucks South) scored eight points, handed out four assists and collected three steals in Haverford’s 59-55 overtime loss to Ursinus College on Wednesday night. For the winning Bears, freshman forward Sarah Martin (Central Bucks East) scored 13 points.
Freshman Daniella Ciccarone (Quakertown) scored 10 points in No. 10 Walsh University’s 64-49 win over Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday. The win was the 17th straight for Walsh with three remaining in the regular season.
WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS
Temple senior Chelsea Lapent (Plymouth Whitemarsh) finished ninth in the uneven bars at the Bulldog Invitational hosted by Yale on Saturday afternoon with a score 9.050. Temple finished first in the meet.
MEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Lock Haven’s Steve Roberts (Quakertown) clocked a 48.886 to finish 18th in the 400 meter dash at the Bucknell Winter Classic. His time was the second fastest time ever run by a Bald Eagle indoors and missed the NCAA provisional standard by a hundredth of a second.
Millersville junior Keith Ogden (Cheltenham) tied his personal best in the 60-meter dash, running a time of 7.11 seconds. The Millersville season best was enough to qualify him for the finals at the Bucknell Winter Classic, but he elected not to compete to prepare for the 400-meter dash. Freshman Steven Eister (Pennridge) took first place in the long jump, jumping a distance of .678 meters. The distance was a Millersville season best and a PSAC qualifier.
Bloomsburg’s Ryan Dickerson (Souderton) finished ninth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.13 at Saturday’s Kane Invitational at Cornell University.
WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Lock Haven’s Vanita Moses (Neshaminy) was named the PSAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for the second straight week. She was sixth overall and the top DII finisher at the Penn State Sykes-Sabock Challenge where she hit a mark of 55-03.50, which was just short of her school record-breaking performance last weekend.
Moses had another big performance at the Bucknell Winter Classic this weekend, finishing fourth overall with a NCAA provisional mark of 55-3.7 in the weight throw.  Teammate Laura Histand (Neshaminy) hit a PSAC qualifying time in her 5K debut with a time of 18:44.86.
Bloomsburg’s Lauren Bond (North Penn) finished 12th in the mile with a time of 5:37.64 at the Kane Invitational at Cornell University on Saturday. She was also part of Bloomsburg’s third place 4x800 relay that finished with a time of 10:18.06. At 800 meters, Martina Drew (Neshaminy) was 16th with a time of 2:27.82.
MEN’S SWIMMING
Elizabethtown’s Ken Wiest (Abington) finished 16th in the 100 free at Sunday’s MAC Championships.
Widener junior Sean Corcoran (Pennsbury) was part of the 400-yard medley relay that finished third at the MAC championships with a time of 3:36.89. Widener finished second.
WOMEN’S SWIMMING
Elizabethtown freshman Abby Mitchell (Council Rock North) earned a silver medal in the 200 yard butterfly at the 2011 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships on Sunday. She swam over four seconds faster than her previous best time in the 200 fly (2:15.86), and she was just 0.53 seconds behind gold medalist Madison Hauk of Albright.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Philadelphia Biblical University senior Justin Brubaker (Souderton) recorded his 2,000th career kill in Tuesday night’s 3-0 sweep over New Jersey City University. He is just the third player in NECVA history to reach that plateau. Entering the contest with 1,999 career kills, the reigning NECVA Player of the Week drilled his historic slam less than two minutes into the match. Playing in only two sets, he finished with eight kills but added six digs and four assists in limited minutes.
For the second straight week, Brubaker was named both the NEVCA and Metro Player of the Week. In PBU’s 3-2 win over Hunter College, Brubaker contributed 34 kills, 10 digs, four aces and three blocks while attacking at a .431 clip. It was the seventh 30-plus kill performance of his career. Two days later, Brubaker had 28 kills while managing six defensive stops during a 3-1 win over Eastern Mennonite. It is the third time in four years that Brubaker has been named the NECVA Player of the Week and the ninth time he’s been honored as a Divisional Player of the week.
Brubaker contributed 30 kills, nine in the third game of Philadelphia Biblical’s 3-2 win over top-ranked and defending DIII National Champion Springfield on Saturday. He also had seven digs. Noah Prickett (Pennsbury) posted 11 kills and 11 digs while Ethan Mawhinney (Neshaminy) put down seven kills on just nine swings for a .778 attack clip. In Philadelphia Biblical’s 3-0 win over Lancaster Bible College on Thursday night, Prickett had 10 kills.
Stevenson freshman Austin Jacoby (Pennridge) was selected as the NECVA and Metro Division Rookie of the Week on Tuesday. Jacoby totaled 16 kills, six digs and four blocks against Eastern Mennonite before posting his second double-double of the season with 21 kills and 14 digs against Wentworth. Later that day, he had 14 kills and hit .500 with six digs in a road conference game at Lancaster Bible. Jacoby concluded the week with 15 kills, five digs and two blocks in a win of Thiel. Stevenson is 10-1.
WRESTLING
Senior Jesse Dunn (Harry S. Truman) was recognized before East Stroudsburg’s 24-19 win over Delaware Valley on Saturday. Dunn is a four-year starter who has competed in every weight from 149 through 174. He lost in a major decision (10-0) to Del Val’s Jesse Harrington.
