MEN’S BASKETBALL
Marcus Badger (Plymouth Whitemarsh)
dished out a career-high 10 assists in Randolph-Macon’s 110-72 win over Roanoke on Saturday. It is the most by a Yellow Jacket since 2004. For the day, Randolph-Macon assisted on 29 of its 40 made field goals, helping the Jackets shoot 58 percent in the win.

Mike Marvin (Hatboro-Horsham) contributed 24 points and grabbed 19 rebounds in Penn State Abington’s 95-90 loss to Gallaudet University on Sunday. In last Sunday’s 95-78 win over Kueka College, Marvin posted his 12th double-double of the year, chipping in 13 points and 13 rebounds with an assist.

Junior guard Derek Brooks (North Penn) scored eight points and handed out four assists in Gettysburg’s 83-69 win over Washington College on Saturday. In last Wednesday’s 60-53 loss to 14th-ranked Franklin & Marshall, Brooks posted 10 points and eight rebounds.

Sophomore point guard AJ Picard (Souderton) contributed 14 points and three assists in Goldey-Beacom’s 84-74 win over Caldwell College on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 87-70 rout of first place Philadelphia University in a CACC North Division contest on Thursday, Picard had 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting from the floor. In last Monday’s 101-72 win over Nyack College, Picard was one of five players in double figures with 20 points and a career-high 10 rebounds.

Guard Jim Connolly (Souderton) scored 11 points while teammate Nick Christian (Bensalem) added seven rebounds, six points and five assists in Philadelphia University’s 51-49 win over Dominican (N.Y.) on Saturday. In Thursday’s 87-70 loss to Goldey-Beacom, Connolly became the 46th Philadelphia University men’s basketball player to score 1,000 career points. His 1,000th point came with 13:33 remaining in the second half when he hit a trey from the right wing. Connolly – who needed nine points to reach the milestone – finished the game with 12 points. He is the first Ram to reach 1,000 points since the 2008-09 season. In Tuesday’ 65-58 win over Chestnut Hill, Connolly scored 21 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor and 7-of-8 from the free throw line. He scored 15 of his points in the second half. Christian had three assists.

Freshman Whis Grant (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored 14 points in East Stroudsburg’s 82-77 win over Mansfield last Wednesday. Grant is averaging 16 points a game.

Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown) scored eight points and handed out three assists in Bloomsburg’s 74-71 loss to West Chester. In Wednesday’s 75-54 win over Shippensburg, Christmas scored nine points while assisting on five others.

Steve Schneider (Central Bucks South) scored nine points on 3-of-4 shooting from beyond the arc in Alvernia’s 70-67 win over Elizabethtown on Saturday.

Andrew Stress (Council Rock North) scored 12 points and pulled down nine rebounds in FDU Fordham’s 59-58 loss to DeSales University on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 68-66 win over Wilkes University, Stress contributed five points and seven rebounds.

Kenny Gula (Quakertown) scored eight points and also contributed three rebounds in Moravian’s 58-46 loss to the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday.

Mike Guldin (Pennridge) contributed seven points and handed out a pair of assists to help lead DeSales University to a 79-73 win over Muhlenberg.

Nick Reisig (Council Rock North) scored nine points in King’s College’s 79-54 win over Manhattanville on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 70-66 loss to Delaware Valley College, Reisig contributed 10 points, which included a perfect 6-for-6 effort at the foul line, and five assists.

Justin Van Houten (Central Bucks East) contributed 11 points and four rebounds in Penn State Altoona’s 60-49 win over Franciscan University last Wednesday. In Saturday’s 84-69 loss to Medaille, Van Houten had five points and three rebounds.

Freshman Jaylen Bond (Plymouth Whitemarsh) contributed eight rebounds and four points in 22 minutes of action in the University of Texas’s 70-68 win over Texas A&M last Monday.

Khalif Wyatt (Norristown) scored 18 points in Temple’s 85-72 win over Xavier in a nationally-televised (ESPN2) showdown of the Atlantic 10’s premier teams on Saturday night. It was the Owls’ eighth straight win. In Wednesday’s 79-72 come-from-behind win over George Washington, Wyatt came off the bench to score 22 points, which included a near-perfect 12-for-13 effort from the foul line. He scored 14 of his team’s final 22 points to help lift the Owls to the win.

Freshman Sam Pygatt (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored five points off the bench in Shippensburg’s 67-63 win over East Stroudsburg on Saturday. Last Wednesday, Pygatt scored nine points off the bench on 4-of-4 shooting in Shippensburg’s 75-54 loss to Bloomsburg.

Julian Bond (Plymouth Whitemarsh) connected on 3-of-7 three-pointers and tied his career high with 18 points in Lock Haven’s 77-52 loss to California (Pa.) on Saturday. In last Wednesday’s 72-59 loss to Slippery Rock, Bond scored eight points.

Goran Dulac (Pennsbury) pulled down seven rebounds while teammate Fran Rafferty (Upper Merion) contributed nine points and five rebounds in Cabrini’s 73-60 win over Neumann University last Wednesday. In Saturday’s 85-55 Senior Day win over Philadelphia Biblical University, Rafferty scored the game’s first five points while Dulac had six rebounds. Cabrini is atop the Colonial States Athletic Conference standings and ranked #7 in the D3hoops.com national pool as of Feb. 9. Cabrini also is ranked #1 in the Mid-Atlantic Region in the inaugural 2012 NCAA Regional Rankings released last Wednesday. The Cavaliers have clinched the number one seed in the upcoming Colonial States Athletic Conference tournament.

CJ Aiken (Plymouth Whitemarsh) contributed 13 points and four blocks in St. Joe’s 72-63 win over UMass on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 72-60 loss to Saint Louis, Aiken scored six points and pulled down five rebounds.

Senior guard Dan DelConte (Wissahickon) earned a spot on the weekly Colonial States Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Honor Roll for the week ending Feb. 12. DelConte averaged 21.7 points, 3.7 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 3.3 steals in a 3-0 week for the Griffins. On Monday, he scored 22 points with four assists and three steals in a 100-96 win over regionally-ranked Keystone. Two nights later against Baptist Bible, he netted 16 points with five steals before capping the week on Saturday with a 27-point five-assist showing against Neumann, including a perfect 8-for-8 mark at the foul line. He leads the conference in scoring (21.1 PPG), steals (2.6 per game) and free throw shooting (85.3 percent) and is ranked in the top 25 in Division III in points per game. The Griffins, winners of six in a row, have clinched the #3 seed in the upcoming CSAC Tournament. Last week, DelConte was named CSAC Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 5.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Brittany Sandone (Souderton)
contributed seven points and two assists in Cabrini’s 71-63 win over Philadelphia Biblical on Saturday. In last Wednesday’s 80-52 win at Neumann University, Sandone had a team-high 15 points while teammate Jenn Casper (Council Rock North) added eight points and two rebounds.

Senior guard Alli Rosati (Central Bucks East) scored a team-high 13 points while teammate Jen Sroba (Council Rock North) added 10 points in Ursinus College’s 65-52 win over Haverford last Wednesday. In Saturday’s 67-46 loss to #22 Johns Hopkins, Rosati scored eight points.

Ginny Edwards (Central Bucks South) contributed six rebounds and three points in Wilkes University’s 55-50 loss to FDU-Florham last Wednesday.

Jessica Schmidt (Abington) collected her second double-double of the season in Penn State Abington’s 63-41 loss to Gallaudet University on Sunday, finishing with 10 points and 13 rebounds. In last Sunday’s 65-51 loss to Keuka College, Schmidt contributed 10 points and seven rebounds while teammate Gabrielle Benedict (Central Bucks West) led the squad with 13 points and five rebounds.

Ashley Rosario (Harry S Truman) contributed eight points, seven rebounds and five assists in Goldey-Beacom’s 71-69 overtime victory of Philadelphia University last Thursday.

Redshirt freshman center Emily Leer (Abington) scored seven points and had three blocks in Villanova’s 54-39 loss to Florida on Saturday.

Junior Shakia Robinson (North Penn) scored 17 of her game-high 19 points in the second half of the University of Massachusett’s 69-54 loss to #25 St. Bonaventure last Wednesday. She also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds while shooting 8-for-12 from the floor for the Minutewomen. In last Wednesday’s 77-50 loss to Temple, Robinson contributed 10 points and four rebounds.

Shannon Barlow (Neshaminy) had 11 points and seven rebounds in Delaware Valley’s 62-55 loss to Misericordia on Saturday.

Senior Heather McHugh (Norristown) scored five points and also had a pair of steals in Lock Haven’s 69-58 loss to California (Pa.). In Wednesday’s 76-67 win over Slippery Rock, McHugh scored six points while teammate Kelsey Ryan (Neshaminy) added four points.

Senior Bryn Cotteta (Norristown) and teammate Natasha Matthews (Norristown) both scored 13 points in Gwynedd-Mercy’s 90-57 win over Neumann University on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 86-81 over Baptist Bible, Matthews scored 12 points and pulled down five rebounds.

Danielle Derr (Upper Dublin) scored six points and pulled down three rebounds in Bloomsburg’s 84-76 win over West Chester on Saturday.

Junior Jordan Seiz (Central Bucks East) scored eight points and pulled down five rebounds in Messiah College’s 68-60 win over Arcadia University.

Sarah Kiely (Council Rock North) contributed seven points, seven rebounds and two assists in American University’s 67-47 win over Holy Cross on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 67-50 win over Lehigh, Kiely had four points and three rebounds.

Calla Miller (Central Bucks South) had a team-high four assists in Haverford’s 46-32 win over Bryn Mawr last Monday.

Brittany Kaewell (Central Bucks South) contributed a team-high eight rebounds in Penn State Altoona’s 51-39 loss to Medaille on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 72-63 win over Franciscan, Kaewell contributed nine points, three assists and three rebounds.

Sophia Waters (Norristown) scored 11 points off the bench, all in the second half of Millersville’s 65-55 win over Kutztown on Saturday. She was clutch from the charity stripe in the final minute, hitting 3-of-4 four.

Daniella Ciccarone (Quakertown) contributed 10 points in Walsh University’s 45-37 loss to Roberts Wesleyan on Tuesday night.

Sam Simononis (Pennridge) contributed seven points and three steals in the University of Vermont’s 58-48 loss to New Hampshire on Saturday. In last Wednesday’s 54-43 loss to Binghamton, Simononis contributed five points, five rebounds and two steals.

MEN’S SWIMMING
Ryan Supplee (Hatboro-Horsham)
was part of Elizabethtown’s 400 free relay team that took All-MAC Second Team honors by finishing sixth with a time of 3:25.87 at this weekend’s Middle Atlantic Conference Championships.

Lycoming freshman TJ Guminski (Hatboro-Horsham) picked up his first career individual All-MAC honor when he earned second team all-conference accolades by dropping 10 seconds off his career best when he took fifth in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:24.28 at Saturday’s Middle Atlantic Conference Championships. In the 100 breaststroke, he finished second to earn First Team All-MAC honors, notching his school record 1:00.88. Guminski also was part of the 200 medley relay that notched a season best time of 1:39.24 to pick up First Team All-MAC honors by placing third. His 800 free relay team took sixth to earn Second Team All-MAC honors with a time of 7:38.37. On Sunday, Guminski was part of Lycoming’s 400 free relay that cut five seconds off its seed time, finishing with a time of 3:19.31. On Friday, Guminski was part of Lycoming’s 400 medley relay that posted a time of 3:42.50, dropping their seed time five seconds on the opening day of the MAC Championships.

Joe Keefe (Neshaminy) is one of 14 members of the Shippensburg men’s swimming team that qualified to compete in the upcoming PSAC Championships. Keefe is a top 10 seed in both backstroke flights.

 

Sophomore Mark DiLemmo (Central Bucks East) owns the highest seed in an individual event for Bloomsburg entering this weekend’s PSAC championships. DiLemmo’s school record-breaking performance and NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 1:54.33 in the 200 butterfly at the Zippy Invitational is second best out of all the PSAC swimmers. DiLemmo also qualified for the 100 fly and 500 free. After missing all of last season, Jeremy Frey (Central Bucks East) will be back in the water for the Huskies as a contender in his three events. He qualified for the 200 and 400 IM as well as the 200 back while owning a seed no lower than seven. Two years ago at the conference championships, Frey took second and third place in the 200 and 400 IM in addition to a fifth place finish in the 200 back. Teammate Tim Dorsch (Souderton) qualified in the 200 IM as well as the 100 and 200 breaststroke. His highest seed in the three events is 12th in the 200 breaststroke with a qualifying time of 2:13.04.  Jack Eichenlaub (Upper Dublin) also will be competing in three events for the Huskies. Teammate Brendan Malone (Hatboro-Horsham) has qualified in the 200 fly, 1000 free and 1650 free while Nick Ortlieb (North Penn) has qualified in the 100 free as well as the 100 and 200 breaststroke.

WOMEN’S SWIMMING
Elizabethtown’s Abby Mitchell (Council Rock North) finished fourth in the 200 butterfly at Sunday’s Middle Atlantic Conference Championships. Her season-best time of 2:16.58 left her .17 shy of a medal in the event. She also was part of Elizabethtown’s seventh place 400 free relay team and sixth place 200 free relay (1:44.91). As a result of its sixth place finish, the 200 free relay earned All-MAC Second Team honors.

Sophomore Alicia Detweiler (Pennridge) was part of Widener’s 400 medley relay that finished second with a time of 4:02.42 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Swimming Championships this weekend. Widener finished second to Albright in the 10-team field.

Millersville freshman Ashley Kichline (Souderton) will compete in the 100 and 200 backstroke at the upcoming PSAC Championships. Teammate Amanda Thomas (William Tennent) will compete in the relay events.

Freshman Taylor Berry (Central Bucks East) was part of Lycoming College’s fifth place 200 free relay that finished with a time of 1:44.02, dropping its seed time by a second.

Megan Lafferty (Upper Dublin) is the top seed in the 50 free (22.47) and 100 fly (53.28) heading into this weekend’s 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming and Diving Championships. She is seeded second in the 100 free (48.97). The Terps are 9-1 in dual meet action.

Madeline Barlow (Pennsbury) is Bloomsburg’s highest seeded swimmer entering this weekend’s PSAC Championships in the 400 IM as well as the 100 and 200 butterfly. Teammate Julia DeVincent (Upper Dublin) in Bloomsburg’s top 100 free swimmer with a time of 52.81. She is also seeded third in the 200 free with a qualifying time of 1:53.48. Senior Kelly Duggan (Central Bucks West) has qualified to compete in the 50 free as well as the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Mel Redican (Upper Dublin) has qualified in the 50 and 100 free as well as the 100 fly.

Freshman Jan Ikeda (North Penn) became Lebanon Valley College swimming’s first-ever women’s Middle Atlantic Conference champion, capturing gold in the 100 butterfly at the MAC Championships on Saturday. She swam an NCAA provisional time of 57.25 to beat defending champion Laura Harris of Widener by two-tenths of a second. It was her fastest time of the year, although she has a converted meter time of 57.08 that is currently 13th-fastest in the nation this year. Ikeda had qualified second with a 58.29 in preliminaries. She was part of the 200 medley relay that finished fifth with a time of 1:56.26, which broke their own program record by more than two seconds. One day later, Ikeda made it two-for-two in the butterfly, adding a championship in the 200 fly in a school record time to highlight the final day of the 2012 MAC Championships. Ikeda smashed her personal best in the 200 with a 2:10.44, just off the pool record and more than five seconds ahead of the field. Ikeda also set new program records in the 50 and 100 free events with opening splits of 25.52 and 55.19 during the 200 and 400 free relays respectively. The latter mark had stood since 1991. Last Friday, Ikeda captured a bronze medal in the 200 IM at the MAC Championships, setting a new school record with a time of 2:12.87. She also was part of the 400 medley relay that finished sixth with a time of 4:16.25, taking eight seconds off the school record. Ikeda also was part of the 200 free relay earned an eighth place finish with a time of 1:46.39, just getting under the school record of 1:46.48 set in 2008.

Shippensburg swimmers Alyssa Boeggeman (Neshaminy), Alayna Ryan (Abington) and Colleen Stiles (North Penn) qualified for the upcoming PSAC Championships.

MEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Johns Hopkins freshman Michael Spadaro (Central Bucks West) broke his own freshman indoor record with a leap of 13.88 (45’6 ½”) that was just short of the school record at Boston University’s Valentine Invitational on Saturday.

WRESTLING
Tim Goldkamp (Pennridge)
picked up a forfeit win at 157 in 22nd-ranked Elizabethtown’s 40-18 win over King’s in a Metropolitan Conference match last Wednesday.

Freshman Richard Jasinski (Pennridge) notched a 7-0 decision at 157 in Ursinus College’s 24-18 loss to Wilkes on Saturday. In last week’s BRUTE/ADIDAS National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III poll, Ursinus was ranked 28th.

Sophomore John Lindquist (Neshaminy) earned a 1-0 decision at 157 in Shippensburg’s 37-9 win over Anderson on Saturday.
