MEN’S BASKETBALL
Senior Lavoy Allen (Pennsbury) contributed his third double-double in the last four games to lead Temple to an 80-67 win over Rhode Island on Saturday. Sophomore Khalif Wyatt (Norristown) came off the bench for the second straight game, scoring all 14 of his points in the second half. In Wednesday’s 71-67 win over LaSalle, Wyatt came off the bench to score a team-high 18 points, and Allen added 14 points and seven rebounds. Allen became the fifth Owl to grab 1000 rebounds for a career in the contest.
Freshman Nick Christian (Bensalem) scored 16 points in Philadelphia University’s 72-65 overtime win over Caldwell College on Saturday. Sophomore guard Jim Connolly (Souderton) added 15 points.
Sophomore guard Derek Brooks (North Penn) contributed eight points, six rebounds and five assists off the bench in Gettysburg’s 64-59 loss to Ursinus College on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman CJ Aiken (Plymouth Whitemarsh) contributed four points, four rebounds and two blocked shots in St. Joe’s 67-64 win over UMass on Saturday.
Junior Dan DelConte (Wissahickon) scored 21 points in Gwynedd-Mercy’s 88-85 win over Neumann on Saturday afternoon. The win was the ninth straight for the Griffins, who were ranked eighth in the first Mid-Atlantic Region rankings released last week. In Gwynedd’s 82-75 win over Marywood on Thursday night, DelConte led all scorers with 23 points, which included a perfect 14-for-14 from the foul line. In Gwynedd’s 70-48 win over Keystone on Monday night, DelConte scored all 10 of his points in the second half.
Sophomore Dalton Pepper (Pennsbury) scored nine points on three treys off the bench in West Virginia’s 66-50 loss to 12th-ranked Villanova on Saturday.
Senior guard Bruce Kennedy (Wissahickon) scored 16 points in Cheyney’s 75-72 loss to East Stroudsburg on Saturday. In Cheyney’s 69-62 win over West Chester on Wednesday, Kennedy scored Cheyney’s first eight points – his only points of the half. Kennedy finished the game with 18 points. In Cheyney’s 86-72 win over league-leading Kutztown on Monday, Kennedy scored 14 of his 19 points in the first half to spark the Wolves to a 38-35 lead at halftime.
Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown) hit three three-pointers in a two-minute span and finished with 14 points in Bloomsburg’s 108-103 triple overtime loss to Millersville on Saturday. Christmas connected on 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. In the Huskies’ 81-80 OT win over East Stroudsburg on Thursday night, Christmas hit the game-tying three-pointer with 43.1 seconds left in regulation to tie the game 71-71. Christmas finished with seven points in a contest that saw Bloomsburg mount a 22-point comeback.
Sophomore center Goran Dulac (Pennsbury) scored 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field in Cabrini’s 92-81 win over Baptist Bible College on Saturday. The win was the 10th in a row for Cabrini. Senior forward Dom Farrello (William Tennent) contributed 11 points with nine rebounds while freshman forward Fran Rafferty (Upper Merion) added 10 points.  In Thursday night’s 70-67 win over Immaculata, Farrello contributed 14 points, draining 2-of-5 attempts from the three-point stripe. He also pulled down seven rebounds. Rafferty scored eight points in the win, including a three-pointer that gave Cabrini a 66-63 advantage with 2:14 remaining.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Senior Ashley Gale (Cheltenham) became the 23rd member of the 1,000-point club as LaSalle defeated Fordham 69-54 on national television on Sunday afternoon at Tom Gola Arena. Gale sank a trey from the corner with 8:40 remaining in the game to break the 1,000-point mark. The Cheltenham alum entered the game 21 career points shy of 1,000 and became the first Explorer to do it since Carlene Hightower in the 2007-08 season. Gale finished with a game-high 25 points and six rebounds. In Tuesday night’s 102-51 loss to seventh-ranked Xavier, Gale had 17 points and five assists.
Senior guard Taylor Magnus (Plymouth Whitemarsh) contributed 15 points and three rebounds in Philadelphia University’s 76-52 win over Georgian Court University on Thursday.
Sam Lynam (Quakertown) scored 18 points, which included a 6-of-6 effort at the foul line, in Wilkes University's 84-72 loss to Manhattanville College on Saturday. Lynam's run toward 1,000 career points continues as she now has 970 with four games remaining in the season.
Sophomore Colleen Gavin (Quakertown) recorded her third double-double of the season in DeSales University's 66-62 win over Manhattanville on Thursday, contributing 21 points and 14 rebounds on 9-of-18 shooting.
Teanna Ziegler (Souderton), in her third game back from a knee injury that forced her to miss seven games, scored nine points and grabbed three rebounds in Elizabethtown’s 76-67 win over Albright on Saturday.
UMass sophomore Shakia Robinson (North Penn) scored 11 points in the Minutewomen’s 84-79 loss to Duquesne on Wednesday night.
Erin Gold (Council Rock North) scored 11 points in Wesleyan’s 72-69 loss to Emmanuel on Thursday.
Freshman Kelsey Ryan (Neshaminy) contributed nine points and six rebounds in Lock Haven’s 68-59 loss to Mercyhurst on Saturday.
 Junior Lauren Peters (Central Bucks West) scored 11 points and recorded five rebounds, four assists and three steals in Holy Family’s 69-51 win over Bloomfield on Saturday. In Tuesday’s 87-70 win over Philadelphia University, Peters scored 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field and also dished out five assists. Senior Lindsey Tennett (Pennridge) contributed 14 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Holy Family is ranked second in the most recent NCAA Division II East Region Poll.
Senior Addie Micir (Council Rock North) scored eight points in Princeton’s 75-50 win over Dartmouth on Saturday. In Princeton’s 73-67 loss to Harvard on Friday, Micir scored 12 points. The loss snapped Princeton’s conference winning streak at 22.
Swarthmore senior Kathryn Stockbower (Upper Dublin) has been named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-District II First Team as voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America. This is Stockbower’s second appearance on the District II First Team. She will now move to the national ballot where she will attempt to make the Academic All-America team for the second consecutive year as well. In her final season as a member of the Garnet, Stockbower is re-writing program, conference and national record books. On Feb. 2, Stockbower recorded the 1,264th rebound of her career to become the program’s all-time leader. In that same game, Stockbower registered the 79th double-double of her career, which ties the NCAA Division III record. With 1,613 career points and 1,264 rebounds, Stockbower is only the third player in Centennial Conference history to reach 1,500 career points and 1,000 career rebounds. A double major in biology and German studies, Stockbower has compiled numerous academic and athletic awards, including D3Hoops.com Second Team Preseason All-American (2010-11), WBCA All-America Honorable Mention (2009-10), D3Hoops.com Fourth Team All-American (2009-10), ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American Third Team (2009-10), ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District II first Team (2009-10), First Team All-Centennial Conference (2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10), Centennial Conference Player of the Year (2008-09), Philadelphia Inquirer Academic Performer of the Year (2009-10), The Philadelphia Inquirer All-Area Academic All-Star (2008-09, 2009-10), Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll (2008-09, 2009-10) and WBCA All-Region (2008-09).
Stockbower broke the NCAA Division III record for career double-doubles, recording the 80th double-double of her career with an 18-point, 10-rebound performance in Swarthmore’s 62-50 loss to first-place Johns Hopkins on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 76-63 loss to Muhlenberg, Stockbower contributed 14 points and 14 rebounds.  
American University senior Liz Leer (Abington) has received Capital One Academic All-District honors, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced last week. The senior forward was named to District 2’s University Division Second Team. Leer has helped guide American to a 15-6 record while leading the Eagles with 12.4 PPG and 6.7 rebounds. She has reached double figures in 10 of her last 12 games and notched four double-doubles on the year. She is shooting 48.7 percent from the field this season, including 42.4 percent from three-point range, both of which rank second in the Patriot League. The Abington alum is on pace to become one of the most decorated women’s basketball student-athletes in school history. She is currently the sixth leading scorer in program history with 1,231 career points and ranks fourth on the all-time rebounding list with 668. She holds school records in both blocked shots (195) and career three-point percentage (41.9 percent) while placing in the top five of three other all-time lists. Leer has been strong academically as well, achieving a 3.39 GPA as a Public Communications major with a minor in Health Promotion. The award reflects a student-athlete’s success both on the court and in the classroom. Freshman Taylour Alston (North Penn) scored 14 points and added eight rebounds in Gwynedd-Mercy’s 73-67 win over Neumann on Saturday. It was the first conference loss of the season for Neumann. Teammate Bryn Cotteta (Norristown) scored a team-high 15 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the foul line. Freshman Jordan Dominic (Pennridge) hit a clutch three-pointer with just over a minute remaining to all but seal the win. In Monday’s 90-44 win over Keystone, Dominic connected on five three-pointers and finished with 17 of Gwynedd’s 46 points off the bench. Alston added 10 points.
Mashira Newman (Upper Dublin) contributed 16 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals in Millersville’s 79-68 loss to Bloomsburg on Saturday. Teammate Sophia Waters (Norristown) added nine points, three assists and six steals. For the Huskies, Danielle Derr (Upper Dublin) pulled down five rebounds. Derr scored 11 points in Bloomsburg’s 99-61 win over East Stroudsburg on Thursday.
In Millersville’s 75-70 win over Shippensburg on Wednesday, Newman scored 19 points and handed out five assists.
Senior guard Jaclyn Hilf (Upper Dublin) scored 14 points in Ursinus College’s 65-58 loss to Gettysburg on Saturday. In the Bears’ 61-33 win over Bryn Mawr on Wednesday, Alli Rosati (Central Bucks East) scored a team-high 11 points. In the Bears’ 55-53 win over Albright on Monday night, Hilf scored 11 points and had the assist on the game-winning basket. Rosati added eight points.
Freshman Daniella Ciccarone (Quakertown) scored 10 points in Walsh University’s 100-68 win over Notre Dame College on Saturday afternoon. The win was the 15th in a row for the 11th ranked Cavaliers.
Freshman guard Brittany Sandone (Souderton) reached double figures for the sixth time in the last eight games, scoring 17 points on 4-of-7 shooting in Cabrini’s 80-61 win over Immaculata on Thursday. Sandone connected on 3-of-6 three-pointers and converted 6-of-7 foul shots.
FOOTBALL
Andrew Wilson (Pennsbury) has been named Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of Maryland. Wilson was an assistant and strength and conditioning coach at UConn for nearly five years and previously worked with Florida State and Kansas. While pursuing his master’s degree, Wilson had an internship at Maryland (as well as Auburn). He played football at King’s College.
WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS
Temple senior Chelsea Lapent (Plymouth Whitemarsh) suffered an injury during warm-ups but still scored a 9.15 on bars. The Owls finished second in Saturday’s Ken Anderson Memorial Invitational.
WOMEN’S SWIMMING
Kelsey Tennett (Hatboro-Horsham) led all West Chester divers in the three-meter springboard competition at the Delaware Invitational held at the University of Delaware with Towson and host Delaware also participating. Tennett finished seventh in the 3m event with a score of 246.5 and ninth in the 1m event with a score of 211.65.
Sophomore Megan Lafferty (Upper Dublin) finished first in the 50 back (26.75) in the University of Maryland’s 172-83 win over Georgetown on Saturday. She also captured first in the 50 fly (25.27) and was part of the first place 200 medley relay team that posted a time of 1:43.22.
Amanda Thomas (William Tennent) was part of the first place 200-medley relay that touched the wall in 1:54.90 in Millersville’s 146-110 win over Chatham on Saturday. She finished second in the 200 free with a time of 2:06.60. Teammate Victori DeTample (Pennsbury) finished third with a time of 2:07.10. DaTample took second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:50.45. Teammate Katelyn Brenner (Norristown) finished fourth in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:21.95.
MEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Millersville’s Kevin DiFlorio (Hatboro-Horsham) posted a PSAC qualifying time of 2:00.17 in the 800-meter run at this weekend’s New Balance Collegiate Invitational on Saturday.
Lock Haven’s Steve Roberts (Quakertown) clocked the school’s fourth-fastest indoor 400 meter time (49.070). He was 10th overall at the Penn State Skyes-Sabock Challenge and the top DII finisher.
Millersville junior Keith Ogden (Cheltenham) posted a time of 7.19 seconds in the 60-meter dash at this weekend’s New Balance Invitational. That time was just two-hundredths of a second off his season’s best. He also competed in the 200-meter dash, running a time of 23.13 seconds.
Widener freshman Mick Coleman (William Tennent) won the pole vault by covering 4.40 meters at the Widener Field Meet on Saturday.
WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Lock Haven’s Vanita Moses (Neshaminy) was sixth in the women’s weight throw with a mark of 55-04.50 at the Penn State Skyes-Sabock Challenge.
Widener sophomore Darcela Llanos (Abington) finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.44 at Saturday’s Keogh Invitational.
Shippensburg senior Laura Henzy (Neshaminy) achieved a season-best in the 200 with a time of 26.59 in the New Balance Collegiate Invitational on Friday.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Philadelphia Biblical University senior Justin Brubaker (Souderton) was named both the NECVA and Metro Division Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 30. It is the third time in Brubaker’s four-year career that he’s earned NECVA Player of the Week honors and the eighth time he’s been honored as a Divisional Player of the Week. The national leader in kills per set during his sophomore and junior campaigns, Brubaker sustained his dominant habits throughout PBU’s opening six matches of the current year, posting 5.98 kills per set to kick off the season. He logged 20 or more kills in four of six contests with his most recent outburst representing the 50th time Brubaker has recorded 20-plus kills in a single outing. He had 21 kills, nine digs and two aces against third-ranked Nazareth College on Jan. 29 and had a 24-kill, eight-dig effort during a 3-2 loss to fifth-ranked River College on Jan. 22. Brubaker has helped lead the Crimson Eagles to a 4-2 record to open the 2011 season.
In PBU’s 3-1 win over Eastern Mennonite University on Saturday, Brubaker contributed 28 kills, six digs and one block. Noah Prickett (Pennsbury) added six kills and 10 digs while Jon Rose (Central Bucks West) had three kills, two digs and four block assists.
Freshman Austin Jacoby (Pennridge) had 15 kills and five digs in Stevenson’s 3-0 win over Thiel on Sunday. As a result of the win, the Mustangs improved to 10-1 on the season. On Saturday, Stevenson notched a pair of wins over Wentworth (3-2) and Lancaster Bible (3-0). In the win over Wentworth, Jacoby had 21 kills and 14 digs. It was the second game that saw Jacoby collect at least 20 kills. In the sweep of Lancaster Bible, Jacoby had 14 kills and six digs. On Wednesday, Stevenson fell to Eastern Mennonite 3-1. Jacoby led Stevenson with 16 kills, six digs and four blocks.
WRESTLING
Sophomore 197-pounder Teddy Conrad (Central Bucks West) picked up two wins in last Saturday’s matches against nationally-ranked Merchant Marine and Stevens. Conrad won his match against Stevens by injury forfeit and then won a major decision (17-5) over USMMA’s Christian Psomas. Ursinus fell to Stevens 27-18 and lost to the host Mariners 34-7.
Freshman Bubba McGinley (Central Bucks West) earned a major decision at 125 with a 12-4 in over Michael Gomez in Boston University’s 21-15 win over Drexel on Friday night.
