Tim Mastrogiovanni – Alvernia University (Baseball)

Major:  Undecided

Reasons for choosing Alvernia:  “I really enjoyed the campus, and the coaching staff and baseball program are fantastic. The baseball facilities are also top of the line.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in baseball at the collegiate level?  “By working hard since a young age and dedicating myself to accomplish my dream of playing college baseball.”

Coach Craig Whitten says:  “When I took over the program, I told all the guys – ‘I want alpha guys.’ He was the one that really embraced it. He plays like he’s 6-5 or 6-6. He’s a bulldog, he’s our catcher, he’s our anchor, and he’s the guy we go to when we need a hit or when we need somebody to step up before every inning.

“He’s stepping in a good spot going to Alvernia. I think he’s got potential to play right away. He’s probably looking forward to the competition too, but every team he’s played on he’s been pretty much the alpha on that team. I’m really excited to see what he does at Alvernia. They got a good one with him. Especially with the lack of a season last year, all he really went off of was his showcases in the summertime, and he definitely didn’t disappoint. I’m excited to see him go, but I’ll also be upset when he does go.”
