Upper Dublin Trio Commits to Play Collegiate Soccer

On Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022, Upper Dublin seniors Lillian Kleiman, Regan Rubin & Alex Devers were recognized for committing to continue their soccer careers at the collegiate level.

Alex Devers – Christopher Newport University (Soccer)
Major:
Pre-Med
Final list of colleges: Christopher Newport, Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins, Cornell, George Washington
Reasons for choosing Christopher Newport: “The coaches, the players and the overall environment. The college ‘checked all my boxes,’ and it truly feels like home to me.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in soccer at the collegiate level?  “I started thinking about playing soccer at a collegiate level in eighth grade. That is the year when I started writing emails to coaches, sending out my highlight reels, and attending ID camps. As I got older and coaches were able to email me back, I had a lot of interest from D1 and D3 schools. Visiting as many colleges as possible and keeping my options open was important to me, and I finally picked Christopher Newport after a long college search, and I couldn’t be happier with my decision.”
Coach Chuck Gesing says: “Alex Devers is one of the most imposing players due to her stature and play.  Teams have to constantly watch Alex because if you leave her alone, she’ll break the game wide open.  Alex is the difference maker coaches love to have.”

Lillian Kleiman – Franklin & Marshall College (Soccer)

Reasons for choosing Franklin & Marshall: “I thought the campus was very pretty, and the town of Lancaster is a great place. The soccer program is well established, I like the coaches, and I know that the school is academically strong.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in soccer at the collegiate level? “I have loved soccer my entire life, and I started thinking about playing in college my freshman year. The recruiting process started sophomore year. I contacted coaches and attended clinics. The process was more serious junior year. I made the decision where to attend last spring.”
Coach Chuck Gesing says: “Lily Kleiman is a superior athlete who holds herself to the highest standards. Her work rate is second to none. Her attitude is a coach’s dream.  Lily is focused whether we are up by four or down by three.  She is all business on the field.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in soccer at the collegiate level? “I always pictured myself playing soccer in college. I love the sport and am so appreciative of all the experiences that have come from me playing soccer so far in my life that I wanted to continue playing in college.
