SUBURBAN ONE LEAGUE OFFICIALS ASSIGNER
JOB DESCRIPTION

THE OFFICIALS’ ASSIGNER FOR THE SOL SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING:

I. RESPONSIBILITIES

A.  Assigning of P.I.A.A. officials for all Varsity, J.V., and Sophomore contests and

     scrimmages in the American, Continental, and National Conferences.

            B.  Developing a "roster" of officials from all local chapters that meet with approval by

                 coaches and athletic directors.

            C.  It shall be the responsibility of individual schools to notify the assignor in writing any

                 officials who are not to be assigned to a particular school, home or away.

            D.  Recruiting new officials and providing proper training and experience for their

                 development.

            E.  Exploring innovative approaches in the assignment of Varsity officials, e.g., team concept

                  approach.

            F. The school involved must be informed immediately of any substitution of assigned

                 officials.

            G. Notifying member schools of any changes and/or substitution of assigned officials.

            H  Completing deadlines as required by the SOL.

            I.  Shall have an evaluating procedure for officials and must follow it regardless of gender.

            J.  A copy of the evaluation of officials and their ratings shall be sent to the executive

                 secretary at the end of the season.

II. QUALIFICATIONS

            Applicants for the position of Officials Assigner in the SOL must have the following

            qualifications:

            A. Extensive background experience as an official in the assigned area and in the P.I.A.A.

            B. Preferably have experience also as a teacher and/or coach.

            C. Contacts with local officials’ chapters.

III. JOB CONDITIONS

            The Officials Assignors for the SOL will comply with the following job conditions:

            A. Person will report directly to the respective Chairperson of either the American, National or

                Continental Conferences.

            B. Person will be evaluated on an annual basis.

            C. Person will make themselves available to accommodate the needs of the SOL.

            D. Person must be able to use the Assigning Program provided by District One.

IV. FEE

The fee for this position will be determined by the SOL for each season and will be paid by the league

treasurer at the first meeting following the end of the season i.e. November, March or June

 when all requirements of the season have been met. The fee will be for a two-year contract.
