Neshaminy 43, Vineland 36

The Redskins captured the title in the Ocean Cup bracket of the Boardwalk Classic. They sprinted to a 14-4 lead at the end of one quarter only to watch Vineland go on an 18-10 second-quarter tear. Vineland was coming off a last-second win over Washington Township one night earlier.
“We told our kids because of what happened in last night’s game, they would be really into it, and we would have to come out strong, and we did,” coach Joanne McVey said. “In the second quarter, they had a huge comeback, and it was 22-22 before we scored at the buzzer.”
The Redskins – after taking a 24-22 lead into halftime - allowed just 14 second-half points.
“We just made a concerted effort on defense,” McVey said. “Jackie Gerth came off the bench and gave us huge minutes both on the boards and knocked down a couple of shots.”
Gerth contributed eight points off the bench. Shannon Barlow led a balanced attack with 10 points while Amanda Laly had nine points and Megan Schafer added seven points.
The Redskins are 7-1 heading into January.
