# 9 Phoenixville Gets Revenge on # 8 Upper Merion

Upper Merion (10-13) won by 23 points over Phoenixville (10-12)during the regular season, but the Phantoms reversed that outcome with a 51-38 victory over the Vikings in the first round of the PIAA Class AAA District One playoffs.

“We got into foul trouble in the beginning of the game, and they punished us inside in the second quarter,” said Upper Merion head coach Francis Bowe. “That seemed to give them confidence, and we weren’t able to get back into the game.

“It has been a while since an Upper Merion team reached 10 wins in a season,” added Bowe. “We have worked real hard and I am extremely proud of these players. Most people only thought we might win two or three games this season, and we proved them wrong.”

Pat Stringfield led the Vikings in scoring with a team-high 13 points.
