No. 7 Council Rock North 35, No. 10 Downingtown East 18
After a tough match the night before, the Indians weren’t wrestling their best, but still managed to get the job done.
“We didn’t wrestle as well as we could have, but the important thing is winning and advancing,” said North coach Tom Vivacqua.
The Indians got pins from John Dutrow (132) and Tyler Kelly (138). Mike Jeronis had a solid win at 103, and Brendon Poff decisioned at 182.
Although he lost, freshman heavyweight Kyle Thorp fought off a good 220-pounder that bumped up.
“He wrestled well,” said Vivacqua.
Council Rock will face Norristown in the quarterfinals next Friday at Upper Dublin.

No. 11, Pennsbury 48, No. 6 Upper Perkiomen 22
The Falcons took advantage of a pair of forfeits to beat Upper Perk in arguably the biggest upset of the night.
“The middle weights came up big,” said coach Philip Kealy.
The Falcons got big pins from Josh DiSanto (126), Luke Kowal (145), Dave Mills (152), Ryan Lieb (160), who won his first bout of the year, and heavyweight Luke Zaccarelli.
Anthony DiEmidio also won his second bout of the night by decision.
Pennsbury will wrestle No. 3 Spring-Ford, a 53-12 victor over Garnet Valley at 6 p.m. at Upper Dublin next Friday.

No. 8 Council Rock South 35, Central Bucks South 28
After a tough defeat to CR North the previous night, the Golden Hawks rallied to move on to the district quarterfinals.
“We saw more positives in our last match than negatives,” said CR South coach Brad Silimperi, “and we wanted to keep that going.”
Key to the win for CR South was not giving up a bunch of bonus points in the middle weights, which has been its nemesis.
“They did a good job fighting for points, and we only gave up two pins,” said Silimperi. “The guys in the middle stayed off their backs.”
Dan Martoccio tech falled a highly touted Chad Haegele at 106.
Mackie Moore majored at 132, P.J. Steinmetz tech falled at 195, Tim Riley pinned at 220 and Tommy Trampe pinned at heavyweight.

The Golden Hawks will face No. 1 seed Owen J. Roberts, a 66-4 winner over Upper Darby next Friday.

The Golden Bears started the match in pretty good shape. After nine bouts they trailed by just 19-16; however, Rustin closed out the match with five straight pins.
“A lot of guys were doing well and keeping it close until halfway through,” said coach Dave Bolich.
At 120 Zach Lyall took down Rustin’s Corey McQuiston, ranked second in the area, but ended up losing 8-2.
Anthony Dill majored a district qualifier at 145.

Round One

No. 13 Glen Mills 40, No. 20 Hatboro-Horsham 30
The match came down to heavyweight. The Hatters trailed by four points when Lex Ludlow stepped out on the mat against Glen Mills’ Derrick Carter. A major or tech would have meant a victory.
Carter, however, decked Ludlow to ensure the win.
Hatboro led most of the match until 160.
Phil Torresani led off collecting a forfeit, Ken Mowry (113) followed with a fall, which Matt Swiacki equaled a match later. Brad Humski turned in a gutsy performance winning in an ultimate tiebreaker.
Han Kose gave the Hatters a chance to win it with huge pin at 220.
“It was a good match,” said Hatter coach Glenn Kaiser. “It was 10 times better than last night (a 37-26 loss to CB West). I’m proud of the kids. It was good for the kids and good for the program.”

The match went pretty much as coach Dave Bolich expected; in fact, the score was only two points off his prediction.
“They weren’t a bad team,” said Bolich.
Zach Lyall faced one of Unionville’s better kids and won 8-3. Anthony DeLaurentis (132), Anthony Dill (145) and Paul Prescott (170) also won their bouts.
