PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Sterling Limo Player of the Week
Dajuan Harris, Harry S Truman – The junior running back put up staggering numbers in Harry S Truman’s 55-41 win over Neshaminy. By halftime, Harris had 180 rushing yards and five touchdowns as the Tigers opened up a 41-27 lead. He finished the game with 243 yards and five touchdowns and also was an impact player on defense at linebacker
Coach Ben Johnson says: “In my 17 years of coaching, 16 of those as an offensive coordinator, I have never coached a young man that has the amount of talent and potential he has both on the field and off the field as a leader. He is an absolute tough kid, and he’s 100 percent one of those special kids you get once or twice every 10 years. He has what only God can give you and that’s the trust that he has in his offensive line and his vision. If you watched the game at all, he was hitting everything from A-gap and B-gap and right up the middle. He came through the hole like I’ve never seen anybody do it before. He hits it hard. He has great power and great speed and just great athletic ability to get out there and make a play. That’s one of the things I believe in. I don’t want to stop a kid from extending the play or getting the extra yards. He’s just a dynamic talent. His mentality is – I want to score every time I put my hand on the ball, and he almost did that on Friday. It’s just him putting the work in on the offseason and the weight room and during the season. I believe we have a playbook that works with what he does well, which is run the ball. We have been very, very basic with our playbook. We went into that Neshaminy game with some special packages. We’ve been able to line up and just play football, just good old smash-mouth football with a nice passing game behind it. Our defense did just enough to win that game and had critical stops.”
Sterling Limo Offensive Player of the Week
Khalani Eaton, North Penn - The sophomore running back was the workhorse on a day that saw the Knights accumulate close to 500 yards of total offense in North Penn’s 49-25 win over Central Bucks East. Eaton led the Knights with 227 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 32 carries.
Coach Dick Becks says: “I liked the fact that he was running more downhill and not trying to bounce everything. I think he’s only scratching the surface of his abilities. He’d be the first to tell you that he left a couple of big runs on the table because he missed a cut or two. The thing I liked was he was always going north and south. He’s not trying to bounce the ball all the time. He’s not trying to hit the home run. We try and tell him – get your three or four yards downhill, and after that, it’s just a bonus. We want him to be going forward all the time – three yards and a cloud of dust. We don’t want to be in a second-and-12.”
Brody McAndrew & Ian Sheehan, Neshaminy – The duo was pretty much unstoppable in Neshaminy’s 55-41 loss to Harry S Truman. Senior quarterback Brody McAndrew was outstanding, throwing for 313 yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions. Sheehan had another monster game, hauling in 12 passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns.
Coach Steve Wilmot says: "Although their effort was not enough to get a victory, the duo of quarterback McAndrew and wide receiver Sheehan continues to be extremely productive for our team. Last Friday they hooked up 12 times for 236 yards and four touchdowns. Both players are playing at a very high level and I look forward to watching them grow even more as the season progresses."
Sterling Limo Defensive Players of the Week
Tristan Hulme, Central Bucks West – The senior linebacker was the catalyst in a stellar defensive outing in Central Bucks West’s 28-0 win over William Tennent. In the shutout, Hulme had 10 total tackles – including four tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
Coach Rob Rowan says: “Tristan is the epitome of what you want in a player. Tough, smart, instinctive, and extremely coachable. Yet he’s a better person and teammate. He invests into our younger guys and shows them the right way to do things. He has earned every bit success this year as he completely invested himself into the offseason and ultimately this program. So much so his teammates elected him a captain of the team as a first year starter and there is no doubt he’s the leader of our defense. He leads the team in tackles and TFL’s with double-digit TFL’s through five games and has made multiple fourth down stops in crucial moments. He also starts at TE and is an integral part of the offensive line that has averaged over 300 yards rushing per game through five weeks.”
Jacob Horton, Souderton – The junior inside linebacker had a team high 13 tackles to lead the defense in Souderton’s 24-21 win over Pennridge.
Coach Ed Gallagher says: “Jacob Horton has been the leader of our defense all season. He was especially active in the Pennridge game, making several big hits at or behind the line of scrimmage.”
Jake Davis, Plymouth Whitemarsh – The senior defensive end led a standout defensive effort in Plymouth Whitemarsh’s 28-6 win over Upper Moreland. Davis finished with seven tackles – four sacks – and recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown.
Coach Dan Chang says: “Jake has been very solid for us at defensive end. He is able to take on tight ends one-on-one inside and play the edge. He’s a strong, fast, athletic kid who is getting better each week.”
