PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Sterling Limo Player of the Week
Andrew Vince, Souderton – The senior quarterback threw for 128 yards and ran for a touchdown in Souderton’s 28-27 win over previously undefeated Central Bucks West. Vince also led the Indians with 16 tackles (one tackle for loss), and his block on a West 37-yard field goal attempt to win the game set the stage for overtime.
Coach Ed Gallagher says: “Andrew Vince has been at the core of everything that we've done this season. He's an excellent leader both on and off the field, and he plays at a high level on both sides of the ball every week. He threw for over 100 yards and ran for a TD on Friday, while also contributing 16 tackles on defense.”
Sterling Limo Offensive Players of the Week
Abington Offensive Line - Shane Judge, DeAndre Townes, Jaden Fields, Billy Everitt, Don Gallagher, Jahmir “Moogie” Twyman - The Ghosts’ offensive linemen paved the way for a historic night that saw the Ghosts pile up 424 yards of total offense – 338 on the ground – against a stingy Pennsbury defense in Abington’s 49-28 win, a win that clinched the program’s first outright title since 1989.
Coach Kevin Conlin says: “The O-line has been the backbone of our offense. Everyone sees the numbers for Tamir Berthau and Andrick Wesh and wide outs like Caleb Baker and Ahmad Stone, but these are the guys who make our offense go. In true offensive line style, they come to work hard every day and never complain, they are just blue collar workers. It has been great to see them gel throughout the year and come together to be one cohesive unit.”
Dillon Sheehy, Council Rock North – The senior running back had 14 carries for 204 yards and three touchdowns in Council Rock North’s 43-8 win over Bensalem. He also carried the ball on a successful two-point conversion.
Coach John Greiner says: “It has been the highest honor to have had the opportunity to coach Dillon Sheehy this past year. Dillon has been a role model to every player in our program from the seventh graders all the way up to the 12th graders. His outward fellowship to all the players is and will always be admired by all the coaches in addition to the strong work ethic that he exhibits on a daily basis is going to be greatly missed. This past Friday night he rushed for 204 yards on 14 rushing attempts while scoring three touchdowns and a two-point conversion. In addition, Dillon started and played full time on the defensive side of the ball. It is amazing to watch Dillon play so hard and on the highest level in the Suburban One League.”
Sean Smith, Central Bucks South – The senior wide receiver is a difference maker on both sides of the ball and had arguably the biggest run in South’s season when he bulled his way into the end zone on a two-point conversion with 1:32 remaining to give Central Bucks South a 36-35 lead over North Penn that held until the final horn. Smith also came up with an interception on the Knights’ final possession to seal the win. He finished the game with seven receptions for 90 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed for 18 yards. He had a pair of tackles on defense.
Coach Tom Hetrick says: “Sean continues to be a dynamic playmaker. He did great things catching and running the ball against North Penn. He scored on the two-point conversion and then turned around and intercepted a pass with not much time on the clock to finish the game.”
