2022 SHSHL Flyers Cup Preview

The league playoffs are now in the rear view mirror, and 11 SHSHL teams will advance to the Flyers Cup tournament.

Plymouth Whitemarsh, Council Rock North, and Wissahickon begin their quest for the Class A championship tonight. The eight teams participating in the Class AA tournament (Pennridge, Pennsbury, Central Bucks East, Council Rock South, Abington, Central Bucks South, Neshaminy, Souderton) face off on Tuesday to start the Flyers Cup run.

Among the key storylines of the Flyers Cup is Class AA top seed Pennridge, which is still undefeated on the season and has the offensive power, defensive skill, and stellar goaltending to make a deep run.

Other key storylines include Abington and Council Rock North. The Ghosts, who won the American Division championship and have played primarily a Class A schedule this season, will compete in the Class AA Flyers Cup tournament. The Ghosts are 1-1 against Class AA teams this season. They will open the tournament against SHSHL mate Council Rock South, which came a goal away from topping Pennridge in the league finals.

On the flip side, Council Rock North has competed a primarily Class AA schedule and will skate in the Class A Flyers Cup Tournament. The Indians, who have shown dramatic improvement as the season as progressed, are guaranteed a winning season in their first year back as a full varsity team. The Indians are 3-1 against Class A teams this season.

Let’s drop the puck and get the Flyers Cup started!
