Plymouth Whitemarsh senior Rhianna Gooneratne finished second at the PIAA 3A State Championship at Penn State University. She shot a 2-under par 70 on day one of the tournament and a 74 on day two to finish even par 144. Gooneratne finished one stroke behind Elizabeth Forward junior Mya Morgan, who shot a 68 on day one and a 75 on day two to finish with a 1-under par 143.
Also competing in the state tournament. Souderton senior Alli Engart finished in a tie for 12th place, shooting a 76 on day one and 75 on day two for a 7-over par 151. Council Rock North senior Maaz Mehta shot a 159.
On the boys’ side, Hatboro-Horsham senior Brent Glah was the top SOL finisher, shooting 4-over par 148 (73 on day one and a 75 on day two). He finished tied for 34th. Central Bucks West senior Ryan Quinn shot a 156,, Wissahickon senior Ian Yoo shot a 157, Springfield Twp junior Ryan Brnich finished at 164, and Cole Henning shot a 168 in the two-day event.
In Class 2A, New Hope-Solebury senior Max Wright shot a 159.
