Alicia McHugh – West Chester University (Diving)
Major: Communication Science & Disorders
Reasons for choosing West Chester: “I liked the campus. I went on an official visit, and I liked the team. It just seemed good to me.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in diving at the collegiate level? “Last year, I didn’t want to dive in college, but then I had a good season, and I really liked it, so I decided to keep going.”
Coach Joe Lennon says: “Alicia has had a terrific career. She’s been a top performer since she was a freshman. We’re excited to take her through one more year. She’s been to districts for two straight years. This year we’re hoping not only districts – she has a shot to go up to the state level. She’s just gotten so much better. She’s a consistent performer but has improved every single year, and that’s what we’re looking for in all our kids – that growth. She’s just a happy kid, she’s always excited to be at the pool. She’s a dependable kid. It’s a tough sport mentally, but she’s got the mental assets that you look for in a diver. She’s not fazed by tough dives – they’re challenging, but she really can perform well in our dual meets and championship meets, so we’re excited to see her one more time through.”
