On Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022, Abington senior Audrey Silverman was recognized for committing to continue her lacrosse career at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Audrey Silverman – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Lacrosse)
Major: Chemical Engineering
Reasons for choosing RPI: “I was really just looking at a bunch of D-3 schools, so when it came down to the time to choose, RPI was the place where I wanted to be. Just the ability to go to such a high-powered academic school and be able to major in STEM and still be able to play lacrosse at a really competitive level – those were all the things that were important to me as I was going through my recruiting process. The people there are awesome – coach (Leslie) DeLano is amazing.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “In eighth grade when I started playing club for Coach Duck (Jen Duckenfield) was when I decided that I really wanted to play in college. I’ve been playing lacrosse my whole life, and it’s always been something that I loved. I think it was always a possibility, but eighth grade was really the start of that.”
Coach Meg MacClain/Assistant Coach Natalie Durham said: “Audrey is a very motivated player on and off the field. She is a very passionate about the game and makes her presence known on the field. Audrey shows great leadership as a player and teammate. She has so much passion that she encourages anyone on the team no matter what the situation is at hand. Audrey started off as a defender for Abby lax but took on the midfielder role last season and did so with ease. She easily became as much of a threat on offense as she is on defense. Audrey was one of Abington’s leaders for most caused turnovers and draw controls. I am so excited that Audrey decided to continue her lacrosse career at RPI and have no doubt that she will be a huge asset to their team next year.”
