Hatboro-Horsham (4-1, 2-1) scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat visiting Central Bucks South (3-2, 1-2) – 7-6 – in a Suburban One Continental Conference game.
The Hatters led early in the game by a 6-1 count, but the Titans rallied for four runs in the top of the sixth and scored the tying run in the top of the seventh.
“To give up that lead, and then to be able to come back, is a character builder,” said Hatboro Horsham head coach Pete Moore. “It makes a huge difference being 2-1 in the league instead of 1-2.”
Junior catcher Eric Heaney delivered the game-winning hit. Nick Riccione had just one hit – but it was a three-run homerun in the fourth inning. Riccione finished the day with four RBI.
Matt Schoettle picked up the win with an inning and a third of relief work.
Pennridge (6-1, 2-1) cruised to a 14-1 Suburban One Continental Conference win over host Central Bucks East (1-2, 0-2).
“Dylan Tice hit a two-run homer, Pete Leatherman hit a triple, and Tim Ebersole hit a double,” said Pennridge head coach Tom Nuneviller. “But other than those hits, we just strung together a lot of singles.
“Kyle (Myers) pitched a nice game for us,” added Nuneviller as the Ram righty threw a complete game with a pair of strikeouts and a single walk. “We have some big games coming up, and this was a nice win.”
Council Rock South (1-1, 1-1) won its first game of the season as the Golden Hawks flew to an 11-0 shutout over Bensalem (1-2, 1-2).
