Bergey’s Buick GMC National Conference Highlighted Player
Hannah Sullivan, Council Rock North, Senior Defensive Mid/Back
Note from the coach:
“Hannah is a fantastic kid,” coach Heather Whalin said. “She is an equestrian and a darn good hockey player. She is one of my surprise players this year. Hannah played forward for most of her hockey career. She would start on occasions, but she never seemed comfortable in that position, now I know why! We switched her this year to defensive mid / back, and she is one of our most consistent defenders. She is patient, looks to channel the attacker, and has a great block tackle. She even contributes in the scoring department, too! Hannah even took over insert duties when Julianne Mangano went down with an injury. I can't say enough about this kid who is such a role model for the younger players and shows that it doesn't matter what position you play, as long as you work hard and be consistent, you can have much success.”
About Hannah:
Best memory playing field hockey: "My favorite memory from this year was the South game we played on turf. Even though we lost the game, our team really clicked. After Julianne got hurt, we stil played for her and went to overtime.
Part of the game I enjoy the most: "I love the team aspect of field hockey and being able to go to practice and games together."
How did you get involved in hockey? "I started field hockey in seventh grade on the school team because my friend Julianne played and I wanted to try it."
My role models are: "My parents because they have supported me in everything in life. I'd be lost without them! Thanks, Mom and Dad! Love ya!"

Bergey’s Buick GMC Continental Conference Highlighted Players
Taylor Levant, Central Bucks West, Senior Midfielder
Note from the coach:
“Taylor earned a varsity spot and was voted captain in her senior year,” coach Courtney Lepping said. “She’s a vocal and emotional leader on our team. She’s genuine and energetic with everyone she meets. She has a huge heart and is so coachable. She has worked very hard to earn a position on the varsity team, and she is also a standout softball player.”
About Taylor:
Best memory playing field hockey: “It was my first time I ever played right mid on varsity, and we had a free hit coming into the circle. I had no clue where to go or what to do. All I hear is Taylor Mason say ‘Taylor cut right there,’ so I did and she had a perfect pass right to my stick which I passed to Bryn and we scored. It was the strangest thing I ever experienced because the other team didn’t move at all when Taylor told me where to cut.”
Part of the game I enjoy the most: “That no matter if you win or lose or have a great pass or a bad pass, you always have a team of girls that are standing behind you to pick you right back up. It’s not an individual game, it’s a team game and you win and lose as a team. Therefore, you must play as a team.”
How did you get involved in hockey? “I had some friends in sixth grade who wanted to play a sport together in the fall and so we all tried field hockey and loved it

Lydia Bothwell, Central Bucks West, Senior Defender
Note from the coach:
“Lydia is extremely coachable,” coach Courtney Lepping said. “She was a midfielder before injuries led us to converting her to a defender midway through the season. She took every one of our instructional points and put them into play. By doing so, she has become one of our most consistent defenders. Players coming back from injury have changed her from starting to coming off the bench, and she is excelling in that role. She has done everything we've asked of her and done it with a smile and positive attitude. She exemplifies the type of athlete we want coming out of our program.”
About Lydia:
Best memory playing field hockey: “Spending my Saturday mornings playing DAA as a little kid.”
Part of the game I enjoy the most: “The time I get to spend with my teammates who are some of my best friends.”
How did you get involved in hockey? “All of my close friends began playing DAA in second grade, so when sign ups came around the next year, my mom signed me up, I was initially hesitant to start, and I remember thinking it was a made up sport. After finally giving in and attending the first game, I was hooked.”
My role model is: “Both my parents who support me in everything I do.”
Music on iPod: A little bit of everything
Favorite food: Chocolate
Favorite class: History or math
Future plans: “I plan on going pre-med and getting a degree in biology. Ultimately I would like to go to medical school and eventually become a physician.”
Four people – dead or alive – I’d invite to a dinner party: Milton Hershey, Beyoncé, Ellen DeGeneres, Walt Disney
Melanie Kerins, Pennridge, Senior Midfielder
Note from the coach:
“Mel has grown so much over the past four seasons,” coach Becky Spahr said. “She has developed into an integral part of our varsity roster. Mel has become a skilled midfielder with a great work ethic and drive. Apart from field hockey, I have also loved watching Mel become a wonderful, confident young woman. Her teammates admire and respect her and I have so enjoyed being her coach. I have no doubt that she will do amazing things in the future!”
About Mel:
Best memory playing field hockey: “My best memory playing field hockey is finishing out my senior year with a win against Council Rock South. I have never been more proud of my team. Everyone worked so hard all season, and it definitely showed during that last game. Everyone gave it their all. It was great being able to play with everyone one last time.”
Part of the game I enjoy the most: “The part of the game I enjoy most is being able to play with my teammates. They are some of the most supportive people I know. They have all become my second family.”
How did you get involved in hockey? “I heard great things about the sport from my neighbors. In seventh grade, I decided to give the sport a try. I remember after the first practice I instantly fell in love with it.
My role model is: “My mom. My mom has supported me through everything. I admire her strength and her ability to always put her family before herself. I will always look up to her.”
Music on iPod: “The music I listen to varies from country to rap.”
Favorite food: Applebee’s Triple Chocolate Meltdown
Favorite class: Calculus.
Future plans: “In the future, I will be attending Slippery Rock University where I will major in secondary education mathematics. I plan to continue playing field hockey.”
