Emily Brennan, Central Bucks East, Senior
Note from the coach:
“Emily showed her dedication to improve her game by attending the majority of our optional practice sessions from last season through the spring and summer in order to advance her skill level,” coach Michelle Finegan said. “Emily’s hard work has proven successful because this season she has been earning more minutes on the field. In addition, Emily has served as the Booster Club Player Representative for two years and has acted as a liaison between the Booster Club and the team on various occasions. The team relies on Emily for her organization and senior leadership.
“Emily has competed on the field hockey team at C.B. East for four years, with the first two on Junior Varsity. Emily was recognized as a member of the 2015 High School National Academic Squad by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, NFHCA.
“Within C.B. East, Emily is involved in a number of organizations including National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Cold Spring Elementary After-School Buddy Program, Decorations Committee for the East MiniTHON and the Key Club.
“Emily also participates in developing the youth field hockey players in the community by spending her weekends coaching and officiating in DAA, Doylestown Athletic Association, and helping at the Central Bucks East Field Hockey Clinics each year. Outside of the school, Emily spends her time competing with FSC, in addition to providing childcare by assisting with homework, preparing meals and supervising activities.”
About Emily:
Best memory playing field hockey: “My best memory playing field hockey was when we beat our archrival for the first time in five years. We were down 3-0, but fought our way back and won in overtime, 4-3.”
Part of the game I enjoy the most: “The part of the game I enjoy the most is playing on the field with my teammates. Playing with some of your best friends is one of the greatest feelings. My team is like my family.”
How did you get involved in hockey? “When I was in the fourth grade, I wanted to play lacrosse, and my mom accidentally signed me up to play DAA field hockey. I was so upset, but she encouraged me to give it a try. I fell in love with the sport and started playing club for FSC the next year.”
My role model is: “My role model is my dad. He has always supported me with everything that I set my mind to. I will always look up to him as my hero.”
Music on iPod: “I listen to all types of music, from country to rap.”
Favorite food: Chicken Parmesan
Favorite class: “My favorite class is Calculus, which I took last year as a junior. I am the biggest math nerd!”
Future plans: “I am currently considering several offers to play Division III field hockey. I hope to attend a fantastic liberal arts college and study abroad.”

Lauren Dougherty, Central Bucks South, Senior Midfielder
Note from the coach:
“Lauren Dougherty ‘Doc’ is a hard-working, dedicated athlete,” coach Pat Toner said. “She is always looking to improve her skills and lead our team. In addition to her leadership, she is a fun person with a positive outlook from a wonderful family. I don't think I've ever seen her in a bad mood. She has helped make our transition as new coaches much easier and we appreciate having her on our team.”
About Lauren:
Best memory playing field hockey: “The best memory I have is when my coach would hand out a little piece of paper to each of us as we were getting on the bus for our away games. After reading the quote that I was given, I would immediately get excited and into the mindset for the game. Having a different quote before each game did and continues to allow me stay motivated throughout each game!”
Part of the game I enjoy the most: “Hands down, corners! The teamwork and satisfaction of denying the opponent from getting a shot on goal and the excitement when I'm taking an offensive shot, whether it's a lift or direct shot and the ball goes into the corner of the cage!”
How did you get involved in field hockey? “In second grade, I was a cheerleader, softball player, and swimmer. At that time, I really enjoyed swimming competitively for SWAC and had my CB South field hockey teammates Kasey Dietzel and Ally Fitts on my swim team. Being in elementary school, I would bring home my Wednesday folder with all these great flyers for Mom and Dad to look at. Well, the one that popped out was information about signing up to play field hockey for WWAA. My Mom and Dad said, ‘What do you think about trying field hockey?’ I was so excited to try something new, I said yes! After joining WWAA, field hockey quickly became my favorite sport. I continued to play for WWAA for seven years and was then introduced to indoor. Playing for FSC, True North Academy, and gaining skills from the Futures program allowed me to understand the game and I learned multiple positions. Being a co- captain in eighth grade and in my senior year has helped me as a leader. I know that it is so important to play as a unit and to have faith in one another!”
My role models are: “My parents! They have always given me pep talks before any tryouts, games, and even practices to play my best and to always give it everything I have! It's so nice to see them at my games cheering for me and my teammates. They also encourage me to be the best version of myself on and off the field.”
