Bergey’s Inc. Continental Conference Highlighted Player
Carley Wingate, Pennridge Senior, Goalie
Note from the coach:.
“Carley has truly stepped up for her team this season. She is one of the biggest reasons we were so successful the last several weeks of the season. She has used her senior season to become one of the best SOL goalies. She not only challenges her opponents during games but also works to challenge her teammates at practice. Carley is a great on and off field leader. She demands the best from her teammates (especially her defense). I am so proud of the athlete and young woman Carley has become. She has learned that only hard work can bring worthwhile success, and I am excited to see where she ends up next year. She will make some college coach very happy!”
About Carley:
Best field hockey memory: “When my team beat Souderton at our first night game this year. My whole team was so excited. Some girls were even crying because they were so happy. It was such a good game, and it truly set the tone for our successful season this year.”
Part of game I enjoy most: “Playing and practicing with my team. I love every one of my teammates, and I’m thankful I get to spend as much time as I do with them.”
How did you get involved in hockey? “I tried out for my middle school team in seventh grade. I wasn’t that good at field and our team needed a goalie, so I suited up, went in goal, and loved being goalkeeper right away.”
My role models are: “My mom and my dad. They both inspire me to be a better person.”
Music on iPod: “I love any kind of music. My favorites are the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd.”
Favorite food: “Buffalo Chicken Pizza!!”
Favorite class: “I took Criminology Honors my junior year. It was such an interesting class. Mr. Murphy is the best!”
Future plans: “I plan on going to college and majoring in Business Administration and Management. I’m hoping to play field hockey.”
Four people – dead or alive – I’d invite to a dinner party: “John Lennon, Christian Bale, Stevie Nicks, Amy Schumer”
Bergey’s Inc. Continental Conference Highlighted Player
Emma McLaughlin, Quakertown Senior, Forward
Note from the coach:
“Emma is a talented, yet unassuming athlete who leads by example,” coach Diane Molinaro said. I've watched Emma grow and develop into a fine hockey player over the past four years and have been impressed with her development. She has a nose for the goal, quick hands and can accelerate, leaving opponents in her wake. I look forward to watching Emma continue her career at Villanova University where I'm sure she will make an impact.”
About Emma:
Best memory playing high school hockey: “In 2014, helping to lead my team to the first district playing berth in many years. Also, getting the opportunity to play in two National Future Championships.”
Part of game I enjoy most: “Working together with teammates and some of my closest friends to become successful as a team and win games.”
How did you get involved in hockey? “I grew up playing soccer, but my mom played field hockey so she got me to go to camps at my middle school, which is where I decided to play field hockey over soccer in high school.”
My role model is: “My grandmother”
Music on iPod: Pop
Favorite food: Chipotle
Favorite class: AP Psychology
Future plans: Attend Villanova University to play field hockey and receive a great education
Two people – dead or alive - I’d invite to a dinner party: Ellen DeGeneres, Taylor Swift, Mia Hamm and Cole Hamels

Becky Gerhart, Quakertown Senior, Midfielder
Note from the coach:
“My nickname for Becky is energizer bunny,” coach Diane Molinaro said. “On the field, she is the one player who covers vast amounts of space, whether it is deep in the defensive area or diving to post for a tip in on goal. She plays with a level of grit and determination that is infectious - especially to her teammates. Becky will be an asset to Temple University, and I look forward to watching her develop and refine her game.
About Becky:
Best memory playing field hockey: “Playing in districts my junior year.”
Part of the game I enjoy the most: “I love playing with all of my teammates that are some of my closest friends on and off the field.”
How did you get involved in hockey? “I started playing in fifth grade because my older sister played, and I wanted to be just like her.”
My role model is: My mom and my older sisters
Music on iPod: “A little bit of everything.”
Favorite food: Gluten free Shrimp Alfredo
Favorite class: Anatomy & Physiology
Future plans: To attend and play field hockey at Temple University and get my Master’s degree
Four people – dead or alive – I’d invite to a dinner party: “Chase Utley, Kenny Chesney, Ben Cohen & Jerry Greenfield (so that they could supply all of the ice cream).”
