Bergey’s Inc. National Conference Highlighted Players
Amanda Binczewski and Erin Bedesem – Seniors at Neshaminy High School
Both are senior captains of a young Redskin squad that rebounded from a tough start to finish the first go-round in conference play sharing the top spot in the National Conference standings. Binczewki plays on the forward line while Bedesem, a three-year varsity veteran, anchors the defense.
Note from the coach:
“Watch out defense – this forward has speed,” coach Caitlin Koczynski said of Binczewski. “Once that ball is on her stick, there’s no stopping her.
“Erin is the voice of our defense. She holds our defensive unit together. We have a young team this year, but we wouldn’t be complete without these two leaders.”
About Amanda:
Best field hockey memory: “Beating Council Rock North in the rain my junior year.”
Part of game I enjoy most: “Scoring goals.”
My role model is: My Mom

Bergey’s Inc. Continental Conference Highlighted Player
Jordan Potynski –Senior at Quakertown High School
Potynski, a three-year varsity veteran, anchors the Panthers defense, often marking the opposing team’s top player. She is one of three captains.
Note from the coach:
“Jordan is a passionate player that is fearless and determined to do whatever it takes to help her team succeed,” coach Mel Lepko said. “We often ask Jordan to mark the other team’s top player, and in this role, Jordan is a game changer. Over her four years, she has matured and learned to trust her instincts and have confidence in her skills. On the field, Jordan is focused and serious in her expectations of herself and those around her, and because of this, she – along with the other seniors – have helped to change the culture of Quakertown Field Hockey.”
About Jordan:
Best memory playing field hockey: “Beating North Penn when I was a sophomore in a huge upset. It was the most exciting game of my hockey career.”
Part of the game I enjoy most: “When my teams plays together and we are so in sync – nothing can stop us then!”
My role model is: My Grammy
Music that gets me pumped before games: “Definitely anything fast-paced that makes me want to get moving.”
Favorite food: Watermelon

Bergey’s Inc. American Conference Highlighted Player
Melanie Fry – Senior at Wissahickon High School
Fry is a four-year varsity veteran. The senior captain’s speed makes her a perfect fit for right wing. She plans to run field hockey at the collegiate level but also will play field hockey if she is able to fit it in her schedule.
Note from the coach:
“Mel is a great team player and captain,” coach Lucy Gil said. “She recognizes how important it is to lead by example and always pushes herself to be her best (which is pretty darn great)! She is smart, humorous and has many different talents. We are just happy she chose field hockey to be one of those talents.”
About Melanie:
Best memory playing field hockey: “My best memory playing field hockey is when I dribbled about 50 yards down the field in overtime and had the assist for the goal that helped us win the game and move on to the second round of states.”
Part of the game I enjoy the most: “I enjoy working with my teammates to be able to defeat a tough opponent together. Scoring is pretty awesome too!”
My role model is: “My role model is Allyson Felix because she has accomplished so much at such a young age. She has worked hard to get to where she is today, and I hope one day to be as accomplished an athlete as her.”
Favorite food: Pizza!
