Austin Mower – Senior at Souderton Area High School
A senior captain, Mower has gone through the ranks with Souderton’s program. A four-year member of the varsity, Mower was a swing player as a freshman. He is one of just four seniors on a young team, and the senior center has contributed four goals and four assists (8 points) in eight games to lead the Indians.

Note from the coach:
“I remember coaching him as a sixth grader in one of our ‘learn to plays,’ and he was just getting started with the Ice Dogs,” coach Matt Montagna said. “He was just a little guy. He played for middle school and stuck it through with some teams that really didn’t do well. I remember we had a middle school team that scored eight goals in 13 games and gave up 160 and didn’t come close to winning one. There were only a few kids in his grade that played. Now there’s four of them.
“He came to the high school, and when he first met me, he was really intimidated. I think he was worried that I was going to come down on him, and now four years later, he’s the Player of the Week for me. That alone shows the growth the kid has had. He was always a good kid, and he’s matured into a nice young adult.
“He’s one of our captains, and he’s a good leader and a good player. He’s a center, and he plays between two freshmen on our top line. Austin is very consistent as a player, and he’s very coachable. I can come down hard on him, and he knows how to take it. I can praise him, and he knows how to take it. He’s a real good piece to a hockey team, especially one like ours that’s in transition right now. We graduated 12 guys last year, and it’s nice to see him being the first one signed up as a senior. He’s got a bright future in terms of his education and hopefully a little bit more hockey.”
