Michael Roarty - Junior at Harry S Truman High School
The junior center has been part of Truman’s team for six years, and after serving as an assistant captain last year is a captain this season. Roarty has a team-high 54 points and is equally comfortable scoring or setting up his teammates, contributing 28 goals and 26 assists in 17 games this season. He also plays for the Philadelphia Revolution.

Note from the coach:
“Mike actually started with me back in middle school when my son played, and he was in fifth grade,” coach Bill Keyser said. “He was a really small kid, and back then, you were allowed to check. His parents were like, ‘Listen, Mikey wants to play with you. How do you feel about that?’ I said, ‘Let’s put him out there and see how he does.’ From that moment in fifth grade until now, he has developed into a heck of a hockey player.
“He’s my center-man, and he’s very good on face-offs. He has a good shot. He can read the ice well, and he gets open. He makes players look good around him because he gets the puck to them as well. Mike is a balanced player.
“He plays for two teams – he plays for his Revolution team and he plays for me, and he would make sure he made time for our team as well as the Revolution team. Last year he was an assistant captain for me. This year he moved up to captain. I have two captains – Ross Koenig and Mike. Mike’s leadership is awesome in the locker room. He’s good with the kids. We had a couple kids on our team that are developing, and he would go and work with them. He’d say, ‘Hey, coach, put them with me. I’ll set them up.’ He’s just that great, nice kid that everyone wants to be around. His leadership is awesome.”
