QUAKERTOWN 15, SOUDERTON 14

The Panthers won a thriller Tuesday night, rallying from three down with less than 10 minutes remaining in regulation to win it when senior Maddie Taylor turned a pass from sophomore Paige Longacre – behind the net – into the game-winner with a minute remaining.
“It was a great game,” Quakertown coach Catherine Scott said. “It was fun to be a part of – it was awesome.”
There were heroes galore for the Panthers, but leading the charge was freshman Ellie Stanziola, who had five goals, seven draw controls and two caused turnovers.
“She really was a crucial aspect of our game today,” Scott said. “She was playing lights out.”
The Indians received big performances from Tatum Andrews and Caroline Kelcy as both had five-point games.
By the numbers: Quakertown: Ellie Stanziola (5 goals, 7 DC, 2 CTO), Casey Rosenberger (2 goals, 1 assist, 7 draws, 2 CTO),Maddie Taylor (2 goals, 3 DC), Elaina Milne (2 goals), Cassidy Landis (2 goals, 1 assist),Kayla Glaeser (1 goal), Sunny Draper (1 goal), Cassidy Lamont (7 saves)

Quakertown coach Catherine Scott on the Panthers’ comeback: “We just kept winning the draw and just pushing the fast break. Our draw game kept us in the entire time, and we pushed the pace. We had two 8-meters at the end and got goals off those – Elaina Milne and Cassidy Landis had the 8-meter goals. An 8-meter goal tied it, and at the end, there was a feed from Paige Longacre behind the net to Maddie Taylor, who scored the goal.
“The whole game was back and forth – we’d score, they’d score, we’d go up by two, they’d go up by two. It was that kind of battle the whole time. It was so much fun to be part of it. They were pushing fast breaks, we were pushing fast breaks. It really came down to the last ball. They had some beautiful goals and great saves. It was just a great battle on both ends.”

Quakertown and Souderton battled for all four quarters on a Tuesday night matchup under the lights. Back and forth goals between the teams allowed for a fast and intense game on both ends of the field. Freshman Ellie Stanziola had herself a night and led Quakertown with five goals, seven draw controls, and two caused turnovers. Junior Casey Rosenberger was crucial in the midfield with eight draw controls, two caused turnovers, two goals, and one assist. Maddie Taylor, a senior, was a key aspect in the transition and on our offensive end overall. She tallied three draw controls and two goals, allowing Quakertown to stay hot until the last whistle. Sophomore, Elaina Milne, put the ball in the back of the night twice, one goal off a feed from senior Molly Kowalski and another goal off an 8-meter in the fourth quarter. Sophomore Cassidy Landis had two goals and an assist on the night, one an 8-meter goal as time was winding down. Senior Kayla Glaeser and sophomore Sunny Draper each had a goal which kept the battle against Souderton going. Quakertown's defense, led by senior captain Katelyn Landis, held strong with multiple caused turnovers and successful clears throughout the game. Senior goalie Cassidy Lamont kept Quakertown alive with seven saves on the night.
The matchup was set at a 14-14 tie towards the end of the fourth quarter. Senior Maddie Taylor found the back of the net off a great feed from sophomore Paige Longacre, allowing Quakertown to end with a 15-14 win over Souderton. Both teams played with scrappiness and intensity all over the field, making a great game of lacrosse on Tuesday evening.
Up next: Quakertown (2-4, 0-3 SOL) will travel to Upper Dublin on Wednesday, and Souderton (5-3, 0-2) will host Central Bucks West on Wednesday (6:30 pm).

Uppper Moreland coach Kim Frantz: We really came together and played as a team today. We transitioned better today than we have this season and really looked for each other on the field. We had 9 different players that scored and almost half of the goals were assisted.  We pieced together some things today that we haven’t been able to do yet this season. I am looking forward to see how much more we progress each game as a team.”
Up next: Upper Moreland (4-3, 1-2 SOL) will host Plymouth Whitemarsh on Wednesday.
