Central Bucks West coach Elena Romesburg: “It was a chilly, rainy game, but we were able to maintain great energy and execution.”
--Props: “Sophomore midfielder Olivia Barrett was all over the field with 5 goals, 9 draw controls, 3 CT’s and 3gbs. And even beyond her stats, she has incredible intangibles. Her communication and intensity on both sides of the field have been vital to our success this year and it’s exciting to see from a young player.
“Ainsley Shissler and Bella Schrandt also made an impact on the offensive end, scoring 3 goals each and continuing to lead a balanced attack.
“Katie Casale scored 2 goals and had an assist and Addie Hahn added a pair of goals. Kamryn Brownlow added a goal and an assist along with 3 draws, and three ground balls and was key to our defensive and midfield success. We were able to overcome some early draw control struggles to control the game.
“Souderton has a lot of young talent as well as some veteran playmakers and they’re always a physical and scrappy matchup. I was also really happy with our redefend. Attackers Raylin Tulio, Addy Stromberg and Chloe Schrandt have really worked hard to cause turnovers. Defensively we had a few lapses in transition but overall stayed strong. Zola Morelli Eve Damsker Grace Naylor and Ofelia Rusiloski continue to shine with Kalena Mandeville on the defensive side.”
Up next: Souderton (5-4, 0-3 SOL) will visit Bensalem for a 5 pm Friday matchup. The Bucks (5-1, 2-0) will host North Penn at 7 pm Friday.

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 11, PENNSBURY 7
(Submitted by Council Rock North girls lacrosse)
In a heated rivalry matchup, Council Rock North delivered a commanding 11-7 victory over Pennsbury, overcoming a strong challenge from D1 commits Grace Holmes and Sasha Dobos. With a balanced offensive attack, stellar goaltending, and a tenacious defensive effort, the Indians secured a crucial win to continue their impressive season.
Cat McBride led the Indians with 5 goals while also contributing 1 ground ball, 2 draw controls, and a forced turnover. Her ability to break through Pennsbury’s defense and finish in key moments helped Council Rock North take control of the game.
The Indians showed their depth on offense with Ellie Carney netting 3 goals, adding 2 ground balls and 2 draw controls to her stat line. Jordy Zazoff added 2 goals, while Olivia Esposito stepped up with 1 goal and a standout defensive effort. Esposito’s return from injury provided a major boost as she locked down Pennsbury’s top attackers.
Meanwhile, Gabby Mann played the role of facilitator, dishing out 5 assists in a playmaking masterclass. Her ability to set up teammates was key in breaking down Pennsbury’s defensive schemes.
The defensive backbone of the Indians’ victory was goalie Lucy Carney, who put on a sensational performance with 13 saves.
Head coach Denise Noseworthy praised her team’s effort postgame, highlighting their ability to rise to the occasion against a formidable opponent.
“Pennsbury’s got some incredible talent with Grace and Sasha, but our girls played with heart and stuck to the game plan,” she said. “Lucy was a wall in goal, and our offense clicked at the right moments. This win means a lot to us, especially against a rival like this.”

Pennridge coach Maddie Dachowski on the game: Another great win for the Rams, and this one felt BIG. We knew that CR South was going to be one of the most competitive teams in our league, and they came into today’s game off a win vs. Pennsbury, another strong team in this group. They were hungry and had a strong showing tonight. Not sure if it was the rain or a short warm-up that had us off our game a bit, but after a first quarter of mistakes and miscommunication, our defense needed to wake up. We started winning the draw and coming up with stops, and the rest of the game was history. There was absolutely no way we were leaving our field tonight without a win, it was never a doubt in my mind as a coach, and that is exactly what this team did.”
--The first half: “The first quarter was not too hot for us, and we were just very flat on the defensive end and the draw, CR South had the possession and we were like a deer in the headlights a bit. We had miscommunications, and we just needed to wake up. It was 1-1 after the first two minutes after CR South scored first, and we were quick to answer with our opening goal by Taylor Burkett off an 8m. CR South went on a 4-goal run, which we were not prepared for. I called a time out with 5 minutes to go in the half and we were staring at a scoreboard that said 1-5. It was a humbling moment, and I told my girls to get it together and figure out the adjustments we needed to make. I told my defenders and draw unit to do their jobs because they were not holding up their end of this deal. The unit that we usually lean on was having a moment of weakness and it hurt. I am happy to say that was the last time I had to tell my girls to lock in. They left the timeout fired up and ready to get points on the board. Gianna Leuthe had her first goal of the night off an 8m, shrinking our deficit and gaining momentum for the team. With a strong possession to end the quarter Cayla Wurz found Taylor Burkett to take us to 3-5 after the end of the first.
“Our run continued with a very quick goal from Maddie Boyer off a Leah Verespy feed only 12 seconds into the second quarter. There was a lot of back and forth for the next 5 minutes, then we found our spark once again when Aubrey Bailey off a 50/50 ball and rebound got her first goal of the night. Taylor Burkett quickly put up her third, completing her hat trick early. Taylor had a great night and stepped up in big moments early on to get us the lead. She looked very levelheaded, and her decision making on shots and passing was fantastic. She was due for a big game, and I am so pleased with her performance. Next, Gianna Leuthe after an amazing pick in the backfield ran it cost to coast before hitting her 8m for her second of the night. Madigan Posey was due for her first and was next to score taking the Rams up 2 and 10 seconds left on the half.”
--The second half: “We had very clear goals going into the second half of the game. I told my team to keep their foot on the gas, and it was time to pull away. We had all the energy and our connections on offense looked amazing, some of the best ball movement I think this group has had all season. We adjusted defensively, I subbed in Julia Lenox and had her at the crease, and she was a huge game changer. She has speed and composure which is what we needed to stop CR South from putting up more goals. I am really proud of the way she played tonight. She works so hard, and I’m lucky to have great depth in this defensive group. We also had a great showing on D from Norah Herbst who had one of her best games of the season. She was locked in, she took calculated risks, and she wanted the ball in her stick, one of the best qualities of a defender.
“We started the goal scoring for the third quarter with Madigan Posey finding Gianna Leuthe for her third on the night, completing her hat trick and marking her third of the season. A bit more back and forth play took us to about five minutes left on the quarter when we finally put up another goal from a Leah Verespy feed to a cutting Aubrey Bailey. This led to some back-to-back draw controls and scoring from the Rams. Madigan Posey put up her second of the night off a feed from Maddy Boyer. Madigan took a ton of hits tonight, but she stayed composed and showed a lot of mental toughness in the moment. Next to score was Gianna Leuthe with another solid 8m goal. Last to score in the third quarter was Cayla Wurz with a strong look from the crease off Leah Verespy’s third assist of the night. We ended the quarter up 13-8 and felt good going into the fourth.
“In the fourth quarter, it became a game of possession and taking some time off the clock. I told the girls to possess and make smart decisions if they were going to go to goal. Gianna Leuthe scored her fifth and final of the night 30 seconds into the quarter from a great look by Cayla Wurz. Next on the board, Maddie Boyer found Leah Verespy off an 8m pass for her first of the night. We continued our momentum with Taylor Burkett putting up her fourth of the night off another 8m. We capped off the night at 17 with our last coming from Kayla Verespy to her sister Leah Verespy off an 8m pass for her second of the night.
--Overview: “Overall, I am happy to walk away with a strong win. Our ride and transition play looked amazing, and it felt like something with our offense just clicked tonight. Reflecting with the team, we discussed the big moments, caused turnovers, and enjoyed reading the stat sheet filled with great things. But the real focus is learning from that game because for us, it was far from perfect. I want my players to get praise for their big plays, but I also want them correcting mistakes and learning. That is how they will all grow as players and how we will become a better team overall. We are looking forward to another competitive league game this Friday as we travel to CB South.”

Up next: The Golden Hawks (5-2, 2-1 SOL) will host Central Bucks East at 3:30 pm Friday. Pennridge (7-1, 3-0) will visit Central Bucks South for a 5 pm Friday game.
