National Conference

PENNRIDGE 9, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 5
The showdown of two of the top squads in the National Conference proved to be everything it was expected to be and then some.
The undefeated Rams found themselves trailing 3-1 after one quarter but forged a 4-4 tie heading into halftime. Senior Aubrey Bailey was a catalyst for the Rams in the half, scoring her hat trick before intermission.
“I feel like in a lot of the hard games that we play, especially like Upper Dublin last week, we come out just trying to find our rhythm, and it takes us a little bit of time,” said Bailey. “We often go into the games with a lull in the beginning. We take a timeout and (coach) Maddie really hypes us up – ‘This is our game. This is what we've worked for. We went into the season. preparing for this game. This was the game that we were marking our calendars for.’ We knew it was going to be super hard, and I feel like that really motivated us to continue to push.”
The third quarter was key, with the Rams netting 3 unanswered goals to take a 7-4 lead into the final frame on their way to the huge win.
“Last year, when we played them, it was a really close game as well,” Bailey said. “We knew that their goalie was super good, super versatile, so we just had to stay really composed. And we know a lot of girls on the team, so it's always a fun game to play. It just gets really competitive and really fun.”
Wednesday’s win was an impressive bounce-back after a one-goal loss to Upper Dublin in a non-league contest Monday.
“I think that was definitely one of the first hard games that we played other than Springfield-Delco, and I think that really just prepares us for what's going to happen in the future,” Bailey said of the UD contest. “Maddie said - today isn’t the end of our season. This is really just the beginning. This is where the hard games start to come in, and this is where all of our hard work really pays off.”
Bailey and Taylor Burkett led a balanced Ram attack with three goals each.
Bella Schrandt had a goal and an assist for the Bucks, who saw 5 players each score once.
By the numbers: Central Bucks West: Bella Schrandt (1 goal, 1 assist), Chloe Schrandt (2 assists), Ainsley Shissler (1 goal, 2 DC), Addy Stromberg (1 goal, 1 CTO), Katie Casale (1 goal), Addie Hahn (1 goal), Grace Naylor (1 CTO, 1 GB), Eve Damsker (1 CTO, 1 GB), Zola Morelli (1 CTO, 2 GB, 3 DC), Olivia Barrett (1 GB, 5 DC), Kamryn Brownlow (3 GB, 1 DC), Ofelia Rusiloski (1 CTO), Kalena Mandeville (4 saves, 1 CTO, 2 GB).
Pennridge: Leah Verespy (1assisst, 1GB), Taylor Burkett (3 goals, 1 GB, 1DC), Aubrey Bailey (3 goals, 2 GB, 2 CTO, 1 DC), Maddy Boyer (1 goal, 1 GB), Gianna Leuthe (1 goal, 2 GB, 4 DC), Madigan Posey (1 G, 1 GB, 1 DC), Makena Charles (2 CTO), Norah Herbst (3 GB, 2 CTO)
Pennridge coach Maddie Dachowski on the game: “In incredible showdown, Pennridge came out on top to clinch sole possession of first place in an aggressive exciting battle. Both teams came into the game undefeated in the conference and had their sights set on the same goal. In true Pennridge fashion, a fired up second half brought us the win. This was an amazing game to coach. The atmosphere was incredible and I’m just so proud of this group for fighting and earning the win. Lily Blair had an amazing night, and we celebrated her 100th career save just a few minutes into the game.”
--The first half: “The first quarter was a slow start for the Rams. We were trying to find some flow on the offensive end. There were a couple missed opportunities, unforced turnovers, and goalie stops. Aubrey Bailey was the only one to score for the Rams in the first on an 8m goal. West scored their third with 30 seconds to go at the end of the first, taking them up two at the end of the quarter. We also had two early yellow cards in the beginning of the game, something I told the team to get under control after that moment and we were able to play clean the rest of the game.
“The second quarter, I was waiting for who on this team would bring the much-needed spark. Aubrey Bailey was ready to rise to the occasion. She had one of the best games I’ve ever seen. She is just such dog on the field - she is aggressive, smart, and driven. She is everywhere on the field, and she brought her best in the game that mattered most. West put up the first goal of the quarter, but their three-goal lead was short lived. Aubrey put up her second of the night off another 8m take. A must-win Gianna Leuthe draw control led to an assist to Taylor Burkett for her first of the night just 13 seconds later. And just like that, we were only down one, and the momentum was shifting. A huge defensive stand late in the quarter stopping two back-to-back 8m shots and getting the ball on an out of bounds run was electric. Makenna Charles pushed the tempo, carrying the ball up field and back into our offensive end. The Rams capitalized on the run and scored the last goal of the quarter from Bree Bailey for her third of the night, completing her hat trick off an assist from Harper Posey. We ended the half tied 4-4.”
--The second half: “Halftime we talked about just wanting and fighting for it more. West is a good team with a well-rounded unit and a great goalie. They were fighting just as hard for the win tonight. The team hyped each other up and made sure we were locked in for the second half. Offensively, we made a game plan to be bigger and more active. I wanted to see more opportunity as we headed into the second.
“The third quarter is where this team just finds a way to dig deep, they always give 110 percent in the third, and it really carries this team to its wins. On both ends of the ball, we were everywhere we needed to be. Defense kept CB West scoreless throughout the third which in a game like tonight was incredible. Lily Blair was standing on her head in cage and defense was working so well together. Harper Posey took a charge call mid quarter which was a huge caused turnover play for our D. On the offensive end of the ball, Madigan Posey notched her first and only of the night off finding a lane to the cage off a drive inside. Gianna Leuthe was next and put up her first and only of the night off an 8m. Last to score for the Rams in the third was Maddy Boyer who also scored off an 8m. The end of the quarter we were sitting at 7-4 feeling good, but the job wasn’t quite finished.
“The fourth quarter was solid on the D end. Norah Herbst had an amazing caused turnover and ground ball, Makena Charles forced another charge call, and Lily Blair ended the game with back-to-back saves. It felt like we were in control for the most part, but we did make some dumb mistakes as the time winded down. It was a great learning moment for the girls and will prepare them for the rest of the season and postseason.  In hard times this season I tell the girls, ‘You have been here before and you know exactly what to do.’ I think next time we can use that mentality. Taylor Burkett was the only one to score in the third, her second of the night off a Leah Verespy assist, and her third to complete the hat trick was off an 8m. Taylor stepped it up and sealed the game for us with those two goals. The clock ticked down from 10, and I could feel it - the bench was ready to charge the field, and I was overwhelmed with emotions of happiness and pride in my team.
--Overview: “Overall, I am so pleased with this group. This game all but secures us the title for the league, and this was one of our top goals this season. Before the game as we were getting ready, we talked about everything that got us to this point and how we had prepared for this moment. I reminded the group, this is not our finish line, it’s our starting line, we still have so much more to come, and a lot of lacrosse left to play this year. We look forward to our last three regular season games coming up and are preparing for a hopeful postseason run.”

Central Bucks West coach Elena Romesburg: “It was an awesome, competitive game and we got off to a fast start. It had a lot of energy and emotion behind it. A lot of these girls play together on club teams and it was a fun atmosphere. Hats off to coach Maddie at Pennridge. She has done such a great job with her team and the competition in our league and I thank her for allowing us and including us to celebrate Morgan’s Message tonight.
—On learning from a loss: “I think this game was a great learning experience for our team. We are super-young and never give up. We are working on playing together as a unit and fighting through moments when games get hard. I’m super-proud of how we played and kept our intensity up the entire game.”
—Props: “Ofelia Rusiloski played excellent in the defensive end handling some of Pennridge’s top scorers. Grace Naylor and Eve Damsker communicate very well and played a solid game. Zola Morelli continues to be a leader all over the field and Kamryn Brownlow had a solid day in the midfield coming up with key groundballs. My freshmen midfielders Addy Stromberg and Ainsley Shissler are incredibly poised and always find a way to impact the game in a positive manner and I’m proud of how well they handle themselves. Olivia Barrett continues to be a force on the draw and attackers Bella Schrandt and Chloe Schrandt were poised and made great decisions. Katie Casale and Addie Hahn came off the bench and provided a spark on the attacking end.”

PENNSBURY 11, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 8
(Submitted by Pennsbury girls lacrosse)
The Pennsbury Falcons delivered a commanding performance in their latest matchup against Central Bucks South, securing a well-earned 11-8 National Conference victory on Wednesday thanks to a balanced offensive attack and a resilient defensive effort.
Grace Holmes led the charge with a dynamic showing, tallying 3 assists and 2 goals, showcasing both her vision and scoring touch. Holmes played a crucial role in orchestrating the offense and keeping the tempo high throughout the game.
Anyi Siminski added 2 goals and 1 assist, contributing key plays in transition and making her presence felt in the attacking third. Sasha Dobos was another standout for Pennsbury, netting a hat trick to keep the pressure on South’s defense.
The scoring was rounded out by Gretchen Hill, who added a goal of her own, and Angelina Kenney, who impressed with 3 goals, finishing cleanly in tight spaces and on fast breaks.
Defensively, Pennsbury stood tall, with the back line and midfield working cohesively to disrupt the Titans’ rhythm. The Falcons’ defense showed strength and discipline, limiting scoring opportunities and applying consistent pressure throughout the game. Goalie play and aggressive ground ball work helped preserve the lead and frustrate South’s offensive efforts.

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 18, NORTH PENN 6
(Submitted by Council Rock North girls lacrosse)
In a night that meant more than just lacrosse, the Cancer Awareness Night matchup served as a tribute to former players and families affected by cancer, raising awareness and resources to help find a cure for the devastating disease.
In the end, the Indians picked up an 18-6 victory over host North Penn in Wednesday’s National Conference game.
The game opened with intensity, as North Penn struck first with a well-executed goal. But Council Rock North quickly responded, and the first quarter ended in a 2-2 deadlock, a fitting start to an emotional evening.
From the second quarter on, the Indians seized control, led by a dominant midfield unit that took over the draw controls and never looked back. Junior midfielder Cat McBride delivered another commanding performance, filling the stat sheet with 7 goals, 3 assists, 12 draw controls, 3 ground balls, and 3 forced turnovers.
Olivia Espozito added firepower on the offensive end with 4 goals, while Ellie Carney chipped in 3 goals and 3 draw controls, helping the Indians maintain possession and momentum.
The engine behind the offense once again was Gabby Mann, who notched an incredible 6 assists, setting the table for scorers all night and adding a ground ball to her totals.
Jordy Zazoff contributed a hat trick of her own, and Addison Deppi added a goal to round out the scoring.
Defensively, Council Rock North stood tall. Goalie Lucy Carney anchored the backline with a 60% save rate, turning away several high-quality shots. The defense was bolstered by strong efforts from Keiley Lyons, Abby Steadman, Addison Kohler, and Ella G, who locked down passing lanes and helped stifle North Penn’s attack.
It was a convincing win for Council Rock North on a night that carried a deeper purpose.
Up next: The Indians (11-2, 5-1 SOL) are back in action tonight, hosting Neshaminy for Senior Night at 7 pm. North Penn (6-9, 3-5) will visit Council Rock South at 3:30 pm Monday.

American Conference

SPRINGFIELD TWP 8, QUAKERTOWN 4
Springfield Twp hosted its Diabetes Awareness game and fundraiser – to raise funds for the CHOP Diabetes Center – welcoming Quakertown for an American Conference matchup on Wednesday.
“I have two student-athletes who are affected by this,” said Spartans’ coach Katrina Borzelleca. “And we raised money for the CHOP Diabetes Center. This is an amazing facility where many kids go to get support, education and care, and we are thrilled to have raised several thousand dollars to help in their care and research so that they can continue to help many kids in need. It was a great turnout, a wonderful evening for our awareness night and fundraiser, and an incredible night for a great lacrosse game, too. An all-around amazing night.
“We want to say thank you to the Quakertown women's lacrosse team, their school, and community for participating in our Diabetes Awareness game and fundraiser. They wore ribbons and wrist bands alongside the Springfield team, as well as sharing the fundraiser on their social media and in their community to help us raise awareness and funds for the research and help that our two current players receive. Coaching and being a part of a team as a student-athlete is way more than wins and losses. Tonight was an amazing example of people coming together for a greater cause and I want to share my deepest appreciation to Quakertown, their coach, team, and community for participating the way that you did.”
During the game, Shannon Silvius sparked the Spartans with 3 goals and an assist as the hosts doubled up Quakertown 8-4. Julia Guicheteau added 2 goals and an assist.
Ellie Stanziola led the Panthers with 2 goals, while Cassidy Lamont made 12 saves.
By the numbers: Quakertown: Cassidy Lamont (12 saves), Ellie Stanziola (2 goals), Maddie Taylor (1 goal), Darcy Baxter (1 goal).
Springfield Twp: Shannon Silvius (3 goals, 1 assist), Ella McLaughlin (2 goals), Julia Guicheteau (2 goals, 1 assist), Madison Borzelleca (1 goal), Lucy McDevitt (1 assist).
Springfield Twp coach Katrina Borzelleca: “Our team delivered a total team effort from start to finish tonight. It was a hard-fought game with many momentum swings and tough play from both teams. However, the girls played with intensity, focus, and unity every step of the way. It was a true showcase of unselfish lacrosse — crisp ball movement, smart decisions, and everyone contributing on both ends of the field. The teamwork and support for one another stood out, setting the tone for a complete and well-rounded performance by all.”
—Dynamic in the defensive end: “Stormii Sprague was lights-out in goal, coming up with some very big saves for us at key moments of the game. Our defense of Jess Shapley, Natalie Rittler, Murphy McGranahan, and Madeline Lodge really played a solid game and supported each other with great slides, communication, and help when needed. We worked on executing good defensive positioning and they did a wonderful job tonight.
—Midfield mastery: “Our midfielders are key contributors on both ends of the field. Shannon Silvius, Julie Guicheteau, and Adrianna Demers had many great stops on defense. They also combined for 5 of our 8 goals on offense and helped create some great movement there as well. One of the most important parts of their contributions tonight was in our transition. They saw the field beautifully and we had some textbook transitions down the field finding open players and working the ball smoothly down the field to score and they had a hand in that every time.”
—Offensive excellence: “Our attackers were patient, worked hard to find the open player, and took care of the ball. Frankie Rizzo, Madison Borzelleca, Lucy McDevitt, and Ella McLaughlin all played a great game. Ella had a great game with several key plays both on the offensive side of the ball along with creating turnovers in the midfield to help get the ball back when we needed it.”
Up next: The Spartans (7-8, 5-4 SOL) will visit Lower Moreland at 3:30 pm Friday. Quakertown (6-9, 2-6) is back on the road at Cheltenham at 3:30 pm Tuesday.

WISSAHICKON 20, CHELTENHAM 4
Alexa McCabe continues to make history.
McCabe added 6 more goals – bringing her total to 86 on the season – in Wissahickon’s 20-4 win over Cheltenham on Wednesday.
McCabe’s half-dozen brings her career total to 286 goals, breaking the team record set by Laura Frankenfeld in 2013.
McCabe’s remarkable totals come from a perfect storm of talent and work ethic combined with a lot of help from a lot of teammates over the years.
“I am extremely proud of this accomplishment for Lex, but it is also a testament to the teammates that she has had throughout her career who have been feeding her the ball,” said Wissahickon coach Chuck Wurzbach. “Almost all of Lex's goals are a result of what someone did first, starting with Emma Baker and Lex Hobson her freshman year right up to now with Lila Marciniak, Emma Greenberg, Maddie Radell, Sam Farno, and Paige Dratch. We have been fortunate these past couple of years to have a group of players who believe in each other.”
Marciniak led the Trojans with 7 points on 2 goals and 5 assists. Maddie Radell scored 4 goals.
Cheltenham goalkeeper Megan Robinson made a whopping 18 saves, including the 100th of her short varsity career. Bri Gardner led the Panthers with 3 goals

Cheltenham: Bri Gardner (3 goals, 3 DC), Morgan Gregorio (3 DC), Mia Haugen (2 DC), Marelle Johnston (1 goal), Megan Robinson (18 saves).
Wissahickon coach Chuck Wurzbach: “Cheltenham really came to play today and gave us a really tough game. Their goalkeeper got her 100th save and we recorded 19 saves. I am glad we don't go up against her every game. That program really looks strong this year and you can tell they are really well-coached.”
Cheltenham coach Emily Towey: “Looking at the score, you may not think we had a lot of success, but I am really proud of the girls today. We were more cohesive than we've been in a while and are getting back into the flow of our game. We were constantly rotating subs in and out and that worked well for us today. Girls were taking the lead in our huddles and encouraging each other on the field."
—Robinson’s milestone: "We are so proud of our goalie, Megan Robinson, who earned her 100th save today. It is really impressive that she was able to accomplish this in her first season ever playing lacrosse. She is a raw athlete that is aggressive, eager, and smart. She is an incredible addition to our program. I am proud she was able to hit this milestone already."
Up next: Wissahickon (14-0, 9-0 SOL) celebrates Senior Night when it hosts Pennridge at 7 pm Monday. Cheltenham (7-6, 2-6) will travel to Pottstown for a non-league game Thursday.
