Boys/Girls SOL XC Wrap (9-14-13)

Check out some of the SOL cross country runners who excelled at this weekend’s invitationals. Additional results will be added as they are received.

34th Annual Centaur Invitational (DeSales University)
Quakertown’s Alexander Bella captured first place at the Centaur Invitational, finishing with a time of 16.38.18, which was 13 seconds ahead of the next closest competitor. Teammate Colin McLaughlin finished seventh with a time of 17:01.58 while Stephen Shelly posted a time of 17.58.15. The Panthers finished fifth out of 25 teams in the team standings.

The Souderton boys’ team placed 12th at the Centaur Invitational. Souderton’s top runner was Paul Caraccolo. Other Indians who ran well were Dave Capiobianchi, Mitch Schlegel, Ryan Walter, Austin Carlson, Alec Linse, Dan Alderfer and Kieran Bell. In the ninth grade race, Connor McMenimen placed third with a time of 17:49.

The Quakertown girls’ team finished 13th in the girls’ division of the Centaur Invitational. Top 50 finishes were turned in by Karina Bolton (21:50.71) and Reland Saugling (22:13.28).

24th Annual Bulldog Cross Country Invitational (Interboro)
Central Bucks East won the girls’ large school division of the Bulldog Invitational with 40 points while North Penn finished second with 85. Central Bucks West was fourth (97) while Upper Dublin was ninth (251) and Wissahickon, 11th (311). Bensalem finished 15th.

Individually, CB East’s Elizabeth Huuki was the SOL’s top finisher while teammates Tate Dawson (fourth) and Elizabeth Morris (sixth) also finished in the top 10. North Penn’s Phoebe Clowser (seventh), Ali Valenti (North Penn), Brianna Mengini (ninth), and Central Bucks West’s Maddie Villalba (10th) also turned in top 10 finishes. Other top 20 finishers were CB East’s Hannah Morris (13th), CB West’s Lindsey Gerlach (14th), CB West’s Meghan Iatarola (15th), CB East’s Louise Huuki (16th) and CB East’s Meaghan Wilcoxen (17th).

Upper Merion finished second in the small school division. Colleen Butler was the top finisher for the Vikings, capturing sixth place. Teammate Zeinab Bakillah finished 13th.

On the boys’ side, Pennridge finished fourth in the large school division while Central Bucks East was sixth, Wisshahickon finished seventh and Bensalem eighth. Plymouth Whitemarsh (13th), Neshaminy (14th) and Norristown (17th) also competed. CB East’s Jake Brophy was the top SOL finisher, capturing third place. Pennridge’s Joseph Logue was 11th, Bensalem’s Kyle Francis finished 12th, Wissahickon’s Tristan Marcelis was 13th, Plymouth Whitemarsh’s Dan Shalala was 14th, CB East’s Connor Sands was 15th and Wissahickon’s Lukas Marcelis finished 16th to round of the SOL finishers in the top 20.

Upper Merion finished third in the small school division. Austin Cooper captured fourth place while teammate Zakaria Khattabi was 11th and John Gross finished 20th.
