Lea Britton – Temple University (Lacrosse)
Major: Kinesiology
Final list of colleges: Temple, Drexel, Connecticut, West Chester
Reasons for selecting Temple: “Meeting the coaches and seeing how they genuinely care for their players definitely made me want to go there. My sister went to Temple, and I always grew up around Temple. Just meeting the coaches made my choice for me.”
When did the idea of playing collegiate lacrosse become a reality? “I actually got a late start. I joined a club lacrosse team last winter, and I was thrown into the middle of it. It was hit and run from there on out. Temple pursued me a lot in the summer, and from there it was Drexel and some other schools. It was all at once, but everything worked out.
“I didn’t know if I was going to get looks. Now girls are committing the fall of their junior year. I committed in September, which is kind of late.”
Coach Kara DiMarco says: “Lea is so driven, and she has a tremendous work ethic. She just loves the competition. She’s so coachable, and she just works hard and does whatever she can to make herself better. It’s what any coach wants to have – girls that want to get better and do the best they can for the team.
“It’s not about Lea. It’s about her team and doing the best she can. She just hustles after everything, and even if she doesn’t get the ball, you don’t realize it because she hustles so much to make up for it. Everything is 100 percent all the time, which is unbelievable. You never remember the mistakes she makes because she does something else that is so phenomenal and she works like crazy to get better.”
