JERSEY SHORE 9, SOUTHEASTERN PA 2
Two days after picking up a win in its first game of the Carpenter Cup, SEPA was back on the diamond Saturday for a second round game. Jersey Shore, meanwhile, had been off since Monday. SEPA found itself operating at that disadvantage after its opening round game was rained out.
It was a 2-2 game heading to the sixth inning when Jersey Shore erupted for four runs and added three more over the last two innings while SEPA’s bats were silent.
The two teams exchanged runs in the first inning. After Jersey Shore scored in the top of the first, SEPA answered with a run in the bottom of the inning. James Schaffer, who drew a leadoff walk, scored on Joey Tiroly’s groundout. Ryan Zuckerman had the lone hit in the innings. All three players are from Pennsbury.
In the fifth inning, both teams put one run on the board. Council Rock North’s Nick DiGiacomo smashed a one-out home run to left field, knotting the score 2-2.
SEPA – which managed just three hits – did not score the rest of the way.
