Central Bucks East senior defenseman Zac Bitzer has committed to play Division III lacrosse at McDaniel College in Westminster, Md.
Bitzer was an Honorable Mention Suburban One Continental Conference pick last year for the Patriots, who shared the conference title with Hatboro-Horsham and advanced to the state tournament by placing sixth in the District 1 playoffs.

Bitzer, who plays club lacrosse for Twist, is a High Honors student who is undecided on a major.
“I definitely wanted to play Division III lacrosse and McDaniel coach (Matt) Hatton Hagen treated me well and I liked the guys on the team,” he said. “The campus reminds me of my hometown of Doylestown. It’s a small town community and they support the teams.”
Bitzer missed some of the 2010 season with a knee injury, but returned to help the Patriots finish 16-5 and claim their sixth straight Suburban One crown.
He expects CB East – which has Division I recruits Sean Reilly (Navy, face-off specialist), Ryan Whitney (Army, midfielder) and Weston French (Siena, defenseman) – to again be a favorite for the title.
“We have a really good team and a lot of returning seniors that are going to be playing college lacrosse,” he said. “We have some underclassmen that should step up.”
