A three-time team MVP and 14-time District One honoree, Riley was the anchor for the 200-yard freestyle relay team that captured a District One title in 2010. Moreover, Riley earned a 5th place finish in States as a sophomore (100 free), medaled at States as a junior (50 free), and capped off his illustrious career with a third (100 free) and fourth place finish (50 free) at States as a senior. Mark Rubino, Central Bucks East golf coach (1998-2015) &
the Central Bucks East PIAA Championship Golf team
Coach Mark Rubino, East’s legendary golf coach from 1998 to 2015, finished his illustrious career with a record of 208-59-9, which included his teams producing 122 SOL tournament qualifiers and winning eight SOL titles. Among his other achievements, Coach Rubino mentored 12 state qualifiers, five individual SOL champions, and two District 1 champions, but his biggest accomplishment over his tenure was coaching the 2010 Girls team that won District 1, Eastern Regional, and PIAA State Championship titles. When not coaching golf, Mark, who retired in 2021, was a highly regarded social studies teacher who was also an integral part of Team Greene and regularly served as an announcer and scorekeeper at many athletic events at East.
Coach Rubino’s state-champion golf team finished their remarkable season with only one loss. Led by Ashley Cassidy, Jordan Glatt, Francesca Ruscio, and Stephanie Yocum, the foursome won Districts by 17 strokes and then continued their dominance by routing the competition by 58 shots in the Eastern Regionals. In the state competition, the girls faced off against teams comprised mostly of five players; however, the disadvantage did not slow them down, as the quartet claimed the 2010 state title by 17 strokes over Fox Chapel, winning by a score of 689-706. This incredible foursome picked up the school’s third PIAA state title and completed one of the most successful seasons in East history.
Alexis Kirsteier-Black, Class of 2007
Alexis, from the Class of 2007, participated in two varsity sports over her time at East. As a three-year volleyball letter winner, Alexis was named team MVP twice while being named First Team All-SOL as a junior and senior. Alexis, a standout middle hitter, also helped East to a 15-5 record during her senior year. In addition to her prowess as a volleyball player, Alexis dominated on the basketball court where she was a four-year letter winner and scored over 1,000 points during her illustrious career. As a small forward, Alexis earned First Team All-SOL honors on three occasions and was the team’s MVP during her senior season where she led the Lady Patriots to the PIAA State Playoffs. After her graduation, Alexis received a full scholarship to play basketball at the University of New Hampshire.
Sean Peckham, Class of 2009
Sean, Class of 2009, was one of the strongest soccer players this school has ever seen, as he was a two-year captain and four-year letter winner. Sean was one of the key pieces in helping East win two Suburban One League titles in 2007 and 2008 and in reaching the PIAA state quarterfinals and semifinals in back-to-back years. Sean, who finished his East career with 36 goals and 36 assists, was a three-time First Team All-SOL performer and captured The Philadelphia Inquirer’s All-Area First Team honors as a junior and senior. Following graduation, Sean went on to play for Lafayette where, as team captain, he was a four-year starter, earned All Patriot League Honors, and was named as a Mid-Atlantic All-American three times.
