Neshaminy senior Laura Chirico was recognized at a special signing ceremony on May 27, 2010, for accepting a scholarship to the University of Maryland where she will be a member of the competitive cheerleading team. Maryland recently captured its fourth NCA competitive cheerleading title in five years.

What was the progression that led you to signing with Maryland? “I had to send a tape, and they saw me, brought me in and made an offer. Maryland was my top school, but Oregon was amazing as well.”
How exciting is it to know you’re going to be a member of a team that just won a national championship? “It’s very exciting. I worked so hard for it. This is strictly competitive cheerleading – it’s not games. They practice six days a week, and they travel to compete.”
