Council Rock South Men's Basketball gives back to the community
The Council Rock Men's Basketball team continued its tradition of giving back to the local community. On Sunday, Dec. 11, the entire organization, which includes 35 players in grades 9 through 12, descended upon the Target in Oxford Valley on a quest to fulfill the wishlist of a local family in need.
The team purchased pajamas, clothes, video games, and other toys along with a gift card. The players then carefully wrapped each present, making sure the adopted family would have the best holiday ever.
Junior J.D. Rawkowsi said, "It feels good to help a family for the holidays.”
The tradition, which is close to 10 years old, is an important part of the team culture. Each year, the boosters club works closely with a local agency to identify a family that might need some help. Through donations and the hard work of several parents, the tradition continues to live on year after year.
Senior Evan Bidwell mentioned, "Personally, this is one of the events I look forward to the most during the season. I think that any opportunity to give back to the community, even if it's just one family, is worth it. Seeing the kids' faces light up is something I'll never forget.”
Congratulations to the Council Rock Hawks for maintaining this annual tradition and remaining a great partner within the community. Happy Holidays!
