Council Rock North gave special recognition to athletes who will be competing at the collegiate level on Monday. Below is a list of athletes who will be taking their talents to the next level.
BASEBALL
Scott Runzer, West Chester University
Scott, a two-year varsity starter, was a member of the 2009 district runner-up squad that advanced to the PIAA tournament. He was the SOL National Conference Player of the Year as well as first team all-league first baseman and first team all-league pitcher. In 2008, Scott was named the SOL Continental Conference first team all-league first baseman and was selected to the Philadelphia Inquirer’s All-Southeastern Pa. Team.
Alex Goldberg, Brunswick Junior College (North Carolina)
Alex is a two-year varsity starter as pitcher and was a member of the district runner-up squad that advanced to the PIAA Tournament.
Kelly Adams
Kelly, who saw action in both the outfield and on the mound, is a two-year varsity starter and was a member of the district runner-up squad that advanced to the state tournament. He received all-league third team honors as an outfielder in both the 2008 and 2009 seasons.
BASKETBALL
Kate Logan, Middlebury College (Vermont)
FOOTBALL
Andrew Opalka, West Chester University
Andrew was a three-year starter on the offensive line and a two-year SOL selection. He was selected to play in the 2009 Bucks County All-Star football game.
Ryan Calabro, Lebanon Valley College
Ryan received SOL all-league honors and has been chosen to compete in the 2009 Bucks County All-Star football game.
LACROSSE
Casey Doyle, University of New Hampshire
Casey was a first team SOL selection in both field hockey and lacrosse. She was a Courier Times Golden Team selection and Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Year as well as Council Rock North’s team MVP. She was selected to play in the U.S. Lacrosse National Tournament.
Doug Rheiner, Muhlenberg College
Bill Brush, Chestnut Hill College
Dom Colarusso, Penn State-Abington
SOCCER
Ryan Tessler, Mount St. Mary’s University
Ryan was a four-year varsity player who led the team as a captain his senior year. He was a member of the 2006 PIAA State Championship Team. He was a first team Suburban One League member. In addition to his high school accomplishments, Ryan plays club soccer for a YMS Explosion squad that is currently ranked number one in the USA in one poll.
Andrew Foran, Shippensburg University
Andrew was a two-year starting goalkeeper who was team captain his senior year. He was a first team all-league selection as well as a conference Player of the Year candidate following his senior campaign.
Alex Ruhfass, Bloomsburg University
Alex was a four-year varsity starter who captained the team his senior year. He was a member of the 2006 PIAA State Championship squad. Alex was a third team all-league selection. Alex and teammate Andrew Foran play club soccer for the VE Blast.
Dan McNamara, Gettysburg College
Clare Roche, George Washington University
Emily Marks, United States Coast Guard Academy
Sarah Kopytko, University of Maryland – Baltimore County
SOFTBALL
Lindsey Iden, Holy Family University
Lindsey is a three-year varsity letter winner in softball. She has started at third base all three years. She served as the team’s captain during her senior year and recently received Suburban One League honorable mention recognition. She will be attending Holy Family on a softball and academic scholarship.
Elizabeth Schrandt, New York University-Poly Tech
Elizabeth is a two-year varsity letter winner in softball. She has started at catcher both years. She will be attending NYU-Poly Tech on an academic scholarship.
SWIMMING
David Brown, Wheaton College
David is a three-time PIAA state qualifier. He holds a school record in the 400 freestyle relay. He was an SOL first team selection for the 400 free relay, the 200 medley relay and the 100 breaststroke. He also was the SOL Swimmer of the Year.
Erick Convery, Loyola of Maryland
Erick was a PIAA state qualifier. He holds two school records – one in the 400 free relay and one in the 500 free. He was an SOL first team selection for the 400 free relay, 200 medley relay and the 100 butterfly.
David Boodey, Drexel University
David also is a school record holder for the 400 free relay. He was a PIAA state qualifier. He was a first team SOL selection for the 400 free relay and the 200 medley relay and a first team SOL selection for the 100 free.
VOLLEYBALL
Christina Dollings, Loyola of Maryland
Christina was a three-year varsity letter winner and a senior captain. She was a first team National Conference selection and was nominated as one of the top five players of the year.
