Eight Suburban One League wrestlers captured spots on the awards podium at the PIAA State Wrestling Championships Saturday at the Giant Center in Hershey.
Although there were no gold medals in the bunch, a pair of wrestlers took home silver.
Council Rock North’s Jamie Callender was pinned by Central Dauphin’s Tony Dallago in the first period in the 189-pound final.
Abington’s David Osei came up two points shy of Abington Heights’ Evan Craig in a 3-2 championship bout loss.
Council Rock North’s Zac Haynes won the bronze medal at 119 when he defeated Mitchell Port of Bellefonte 3-2 in the consolation finals.
Council Rock South’s Ed Shupe wasn’t as fortunate as he fell to Northampton’s Jimmy Sheptock, 6-4 in the consi finals to settle for fourth place.
Central Buck East’s Devon Passman and Hatboro-Horsham’s Alex Myers both finished sixth. Passman lost to West Mifflin’s James Fleming in the fifth place match at 160, while Myers lost his fifth place bout at 285 to Justin Grant of Easton, 9-2.
Mike Mathis of Central Bucks South won his 103-pound seventh place match, defeating Parkland’s Mike Fake, who majored Truman’s James Bak in the first round, 6-1.
C.B. West’s Chris McGinley (112) as well as Council Rock South’s Matt Martoccio (130) and Jim Vollrath (152) all finished eighth.
