A total of 11 Suburban High School Hockey League teams have earned bids to the 41st annual Flyers Cup tournament. Eight Class AA teams and three more from Class A will take the ice when the tournament begins next week.
All 16 teams in the Class AA bracket will begin play next Tuesday, March 3. Two-time Cup champion Central Bucks South will be the top seed in Class AA and will face 16th seed Conestoga in a first-round game at Hatfield Ice (6:40 start). Ninth-seeded Central Bucks East will face number-eight Boyertown in a 6:15 game at Ice Line. North Penn, the fourth seed, will face number-13 Ridley in an 8:50 game at Hatfield Ice while 12th-seed Pennsbury travels to Ice Line to go against number-five Downingtown West.
Sixth-seeded Council Rock South will be at Grundy Arena to face number-11 Parkland (8:45) while, in an all-SHSHL matchup, number-seven Neshaminy will face 10th seed Pennridge at 6:30 in the same venue on the same evening. Central Bucks West, the 15th seed, will face second seed Haverford in a 7 p.m. game at the Skatium.
In Class A action, eighth-seeded Plymouth Whitemarsh will face ninth seed Lower Dauphin in an 8:45 game at Ice Line. Wissahickon, the 11th seed, will also be at Ice Line that evening for a 6:45 game against number-six Unionville while Hatboro-Horsham, the 10th seed, will be at Ice Works to go against number-seven Springfield Delco.
