Connor Forlini – West Chester University (Swimming)
Major: Undecided
Final list of colleges: West Chester, Westminster
Reasons for choosing West Chester: “West Chester was my number one the whole way. I liked everything about it. The size of the school – I’m not that big into huge schools, and I feel like West Chester is a nice size. You can know people but not be known by everybody. They also came after me, and I felt wanted by the school. They contacted me before I contacted them, and they just made me feel as if I was wanted.”
What was the progression that led you to swimming at the collegiate level? “My freshman year wasn’t a fantastic season. I didn’t expect to get to where I am now based on my freshman year. My sophomore year was when I first started thinking where I could actually go and what I was capable of.
“I’ve been on a break for a few weeks now, and it felt like I was missing something. It’s going to definitely be different when I’m done at the college level knowing there’s not much (swimming) after that.”
Tennent coach Lisa Forlini says: “There’s something within a good swimmer that you can’t make, you can’t teach. It just is what it is. He has that drive within him that motivates him, that is born within him. It’s not something that we gave him, and that’s what makes him who he is as a swimmer – that self-motivation that you just can’t teach.
“It’s the nature of who he is as a person – he’s a hard worker in general. He’s a good kid. We communicate well, we get along really well, but definitely his ability in what he does carries over into his individual events and drives him to be the best at what he does.”
