On Friday, May 4, 2012, Upper Merion senior Ally Frymoyer was recognized for signing a letter of intent to play lacrosse at Shippensburg University.
Ally Frymoyer – Shippensburg University (Lacrosse)
Major: Communications
Final list of colleges: Shippensburg, Slippery Rock, Edinboro, Kutztown, Quinnipiac
Reasons for choosing Shippensburg: “I chose Shippensburg because they gave me a scholarship and a starting position (goalie), which is really nice. I visited just once, but I loved it. The coach was so nice.”
What was the progression that led you to playing lacrosse at the collegiate level? “Lacrosse has always been my favorite sport since I was in seventh grade. Since I always loved the sport, I just always wanted to play it in college.”
Coach Angie Yanocha says: “She’s one of those kids – it doesn’t matter what you tell her, she does it no questions asked, and she always gives you 100 percent. She’s just a determined, hard-working kid.
“She’s meant a great deal to our team. It’s going to be a very big loss next year – it’s a huge position we’re going to have to fill. There were games she just kept us in. Even a coach came up to me after one of our games and said, ‘I was hoping your goalie was already gone.’ Last year she was second team all-league. She comes up with some key saves when necessary, and this year she’s also one of our team captains. She’s very quiet by nature, but she’s gotten a lot more vocal this season being a senior and being a captain. She really wanted the team to do well. We’ll hopefully finish with a winning record for the last two years, and we wouldn’t be able to be in that position without Ally in goal.”
