Girls' Lacrosse Wrap: 4-9-10

Cheltenham 22, Upper Merion 14

Coach Dave Burton called it ‘one of the most bizarre’ games he’d ever experienced. It’s easy to understand why.
The Vikings appeared to be in complete command as they sprinted to a 12-5 lead over the Panthers.
“We committed 14 turnovers and only controlled three of 18 draws in the half,” Burton said.
The Panthers’ coach may want to bottle whatever he told his team during the intermission as the Panthers roared out of halftime and outscored the Vikings 17-2 to earn the dramatic win. In the second half, the Panthers controlled 17 of 20 draws and committed only four turnovers.
Liz Heimann led the Panthers with eight goals and four assists while Rachel Boles had five goals and one assist. Madison Brunk added three goals and three assists while Ancy Thomas contributed the hat trick. Defensively, Liza Brazil had eight draw controls and five ground balls.

The loss was the first of the season for the Vikings, who fell to 2-1 in SOL play (3-1 overall). The Panthers are 3-1.
