Souderton Girls Wrestling competed in two tournaments over the holidays.
On Dec 23, Emily Sarr and MacKenna Atkinson competed in the Bishop McCort Tournament in Johnstown. Emily went 1-2 in a tough bracket with both losses against two state-ranked opponents. MacKenna Atkinson went 3-0 and won the tournament, pinning last year's state third place finisher in the finals.
On Dec 28, the entire girls team travelled to Governor Mifflin for its holiday girls’ tournament. In the varsity tournament, Emily Sarr took third in a super tough bracket and almost secured a win over last year's state third place winner.
MacKenna Atkinson took first and won her third tournament of the year. She went 3-0, including a win over last year's state sixth. She is 9-0 on the season with eight falls and ranked second in PA.
Gisele Ramirez took first and is still undefeated on the season and beat another state-ranked opponent.
2022 State runner-up Kayla Husti-Luca wrestled her first match in 15 months after battling injuries and went 4-0, taking first place. She had three tech falls and a fall on the day.
In the JV tournament, Emily Hernandez went 4-0 and took first place! Gianna Garrison took second and went 2-1.
