Kelly Hamilton – Lock Haven University (Lacrosse)
Major: Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education
Final list of colleges: Lock Haven, West Chester
Reasons for choosing Lock Haven: “The coaching staff was phenomenal, and the team really clicked. I liked their style of play, and I just really liked the campus as well.”
What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate lacrosse since you also excel in field hockey? “I really like both sports, but I think all along I kind of liked lacrosse better. I stopped playing club field hockey a couple of years ago, but I kept playing lacrosse, so I knew I wanted to play lacrosse in college.
“The coaches at Lock Haven are really nice, and they made (the recruiting process) easy for me.”
Coach Janique Craig says: “Kelly has been playing attack since her freshman year. On the field, the girls really look to her to lead the attack. She’s a role model on and off the field. Even when Kelly was a freshman and sophomore, she was still a leader on the field, and she was a captain as a junior and senior.
“Before and after practice, she was always working on her stick skills and her shooting and doing those extra things to make herself a better player. Kelly is poised, and she has a great amount of lacrosse knowledge, and that sets her apart from the other players. She is a mini-coach on the field. She knows where her teammates need to be and directs her teammates on the field.”
