Hatboro-Horsham Girls' Basketball Preview

HATBORO-HORSHAM GIRLS’ BASKETBALL PREVIEW

Coach:  Dennis Steinly (2nd year)

Assistant coaches: DJ Fromal, Roger Day, Michael Ruivivar, Taylor Sweeney

Last year’s record:  10-12 (6-8 SOL American)

Notable losses:  Kylie Halko, Maddie Throne (PSU-Schuylkill), Kara Kaminski, Sarah Mahoney, Logan Cummings

Key returners:  Sr Cam Ryan, So Alice Hall, So Emily Thomas

Others to watch:  Sr Sydney Kemp, Sr Graceanne Griffis, Sr Hallie Anderson, Sr Jada Mills, Jr Ava McKinney, Jr Jess Howard, So Sam Hollish, Fr Caroline Shegogue

Strengths: Three returning starters including pg Cam Ryan, 3rd leading scorer Emily Thomas and leading scorer Alice Hall

Question Marks: A lot of new faces so girls haven’t played as a group yet and many haven’t played varsity basketball

Outlook:  “We have a lot of new faces who haven’t played together, so our success will depend on how quickly we develop cohesion on the court. We’ll find out quickly as our Tipoff Tournament brings in talented Pennsbury, New Hope-Solebury and Mast Charter Pickett
The SOL American is always challenging so finishing in the top half would be improvement on last season. Our three returning starters are providing strong leadership - after missing the playoffs by one spot last year they are determined to get there this year. HH hasn’t qualified in over a decade so we want to end that drought.
I am excited to watch this team develop and grow as the season progresses. Regardless of our record I am proud to have this group represent Hatboro-Horsham – they have talent beyond basketball.”
