Flyers Cup A 

Upper Dublin holds the title of Last Man Standing in the SHSHL American Division and the only remaining SHSHL team in the Flyers Cup A tournament. Fellow qualifiers Wissahickon fell to Quakertown, 3-2, on Thursday, while 18th seed Hatboro-Horsham dropped a 3-0 decision to 15th seeded Kennett. The teams took a scoreless tie into the second period, but Kennett scored twice in the first 45 seconds of the second period to pull ahead, then added an insurance goal late in the third. Hatboro-Horsham goalkeeper Vincent Mirarchi faced 33 shots, turning aside 30.
 
Upper Dublin will face the Flyers Cup A top seed, West Chester Henderson, March 16 at 7 p.m. at IceLine, 700 Lawrence Drive, West Chester, in the second round.

Souderton scored three goals in a four-minute span of the third period to pull out a 6-5 victory over 18th-seeded Central Dauphin in Friday's Flyers Cup A opening round.
 
Michael McCarthy scored four goals for the 15th-seeded Big Red, including two in the third period, as Souderton battled back from a 4-3 deficit after two periods to earn the victory. Jim Tierney also posted a four-point game with a goal and three assists. Kyle Dusellier scored and added one assist, Corre Sommers posted a pair of assists and Sean Walsh added one assist. Big Red goalkeeper Drew Politsky also received an assist in addition to turning aside 29 Central Dauphin shots.
 
Souderton now has a date with second seeded Council Rock North March 16 at 7 p.m. at Face-Off Circle. The teams met twice during the SHSHL regular season, with North taking a 7-1 victory on Jan. 29 and a 3-2 win on Feb. 12.
 
The 19th-seeded Abington Ghosts scored two goals in the second period to pull away with a 3-1 win over 14th seed Conestoga Friday in their Flyers Cup AA opener. Jimmy McKee (Hans Abendroth and Andrew McGowan assists) and Abendroth (Michael Murphy and Konrad Thallner assists) put Abington ahead 2-0 in the second period.
 
Conestoga scored a power play goal in the third period to pull back to within one, but Abington answered 17 seconds later with a Tyler Moll goal. Abington was outshot in the contest, 39-25, including 15-8 in the first period, but Abington keeper Thomas Kain came up big time and again for the Ghosts.
 
Abington moves into the second round and a date with third-seeded Downingtown East, March 15 at 7 p.m. at Ice Line, 700 Lawrence Drive, West Chester.
 
North Penn, seeded 20th, extended its season with a 4-1 upset over 13th seeded Parkland at Steel Ice in Bethlehem. The Knights will take to the road again March 15 for a 7:10 p.m. game at Grundy Ice Center. Their opponent will be the SHSHL rival, and the tournament's fourth seed, Pennsbury. The Falcons picked up a 6-4 win over North Penn on Nov. 13 and a 9-1 victory on Dec. 17.
 
Pennridge earned a forfeit victory over Eastern. It will go down in the record books as a 1-0 win for the 16th-seeded Rams, who will square off against a familiar, and daunting, foe in the second round. Pennridge will face the tournament's top seed, Council Rock South, March 15 at 6:50 p.m. at Face-Off Circle. The Golden Hawks won both meetings this season, with a 7-2 win on Oct. 21 and a 3-1 victory on Feb. 12.

Eighth-seeded Central Bucks South will take on ninth seed Boyertown March 15 at 7 p.m. at Warwick Ice Arena.
