KickNWear SOL Boys’ Soccer Players of the Week*
(For week ending Sept. 11, 2010)
This weekly award is sponsored by KickNWear – a complete soccer store located in Lansdale. Winners are chosen based on nomination of coaches.
National Conference KickNWear Player of the Week
Jason Hyman – Senior forward from Pennsbury High School.
Notable Accomplishment:
Hyman scored two important goals in Pennsbury’s road victories over Strath Haven and Downingtown West this past week. He spent the last two years as a jayvee player, but after being recently converted into a forward, he is quickly starting to make a huge difference at the varsity level.
Note from the coach:
“Jason has worked extremely hard. He’s worked himself into a varsity player, and he’s always dangerous in the box,” notes Pennsbury coach Tom Stoddart.
About Jayson:
Favorite professional soccer player: Asamoah Gyan
Best soccer memory: Getting my first varsity assist as a junior.
Part of game I enjoy most: Going up and winning head balls.
My role models are: The Lonely Island
Music that gets me pumped before games: Mulan music
Chocolate or vanilla: Vanilla
Continental Conference KickNWear Player of the Week
Ricky Pieri – Senior defender from Central Bucks South High School
Notable Accomplishment:
As a senior co-captain, Ricky is CB South’s center back, and he leads a rookie lineup which has already recorded two shutouts this season, both within the last week.
Note from the coach:
“Ricky has started every match since his sophomore year. He works extremely hard in training and matches to lead by example,” said his coach, Don Brady.
Favorite professional soccer player: Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite (Kaka)
Best soccer memory: Taking the ball from my team’s goal line off of a corner, dribbling to the opponent’s goal and scoring.
Part of the game I enjoy most: Getting my opponent frustrated by using my speed to outrun them and my defensive skills to strip the ball off of them.
My role model is: My father (Rick Pieri)
Music that gets me pumped before games: “Remember the Name” by Fort Minor
Chocolate or vanilla: Vanilla
American Conference KickNWear Player of the Week
Olu Amudipe – Senior defender from Wissahickon High School
Notable Accomplishment:
Amudipe is Wissahickon’s central defender who has shown great leadership in organizing a few different lineups so far this season. In their last two non-league games, the Trojans beat both Central Bucks East and Souderton by slim margins, and Admudipe made many timely tackles to preserve those results.
Note from the coach:
“Defenders are quite often overlooked due to their lack of stats, but the main reason we have our current record is solely on the defense and in particular Olu,” offers Wissahickon head coach Stuart Malcolm.
About Olu:
Favorite professional soccer player: Steven Gerrard
Best soccer memory: Scoring the second goal of my club team’s game at nationals to put us in the lead at 2-1.
Part of the game I enjoy most: The final few moments of a close game.
My role model: I see my father as a role model because he was a very accomplished athlete as a child, playing both soccer and cricket at a high level of play.
Music that gets me pumped before games: Eric Hibbs raps for our high school team before each game.
Chocolate or vanilla: Vanilla
