KickNWear Boys' Soccer Athletes of the Week (Week 6)

KickNWear SOL Boys’ Soccer Players of the Week

(For week ending Oct. 16, 2010)

This weekly award is sponsored by KickNWear – a complete soccer store located in Lansdale. Winners are chosen based on nomination of coaches.

National Conference KickNWear Player of the Week

Mike Comacho – Junior forward from Harry S. Truman

Notable Accomplishment:
A three-year starter, Comacho has been the leading scorer for the Tigers and is the team’s biggest offensive force. While Truman’s offense goes through Comacho, he also is willing to step in and play wherever needed. Comacho – who is also a very good student - played hurt the final five or six games of the season.

Note from the Coach:
“He’s a great kid,” coach Scott Milone said. “He started for me as a freshman. Last year, I needed defensive help. I asked him to step up and play defense for us – something he’s never done before, and he went in there with no problem and made third team all-SOL. He does anything we ask him to do.”

About Mike:
Favorite professional soccer player: Christiano Ronaldo
Part of game I enjoy most: Scoring goals
Best experience playing soccer: Scoring a goal against Pennsbury
My role models are: My mom and dad
Musical artist that gets me pumped before games: Taylor Swift
Vanilla or chocolate: Vanilla

Continental Conference KickNWear Player of the Week

Mike Bamford – Junior defender from Central Bucks West.

Notable Accomplishment:
Bamford is a three-year starter and captain as a junior. He has been an integral part of turning around CB West boys’ slow start to the 2010 season. He scored the game-winning goal in the North Penn game, had a goal and an assist against Quakertown, and an assist against Hatboro- Horsham all from his sweeper position last week.

Note from the Coach:
“His tenacity, work ethic, speed and technical ability make him an asset that any coach would be lucky to have,” offers head coach, Steven Detweiler. “Mike is a midfielder who has graciously been relocated to sweeper this year; however that has not affected his productivity as he is West’s second leading scorer and has a handful of assists. As a coach, knowing you have a player like Mike makes you know you are capable of competing against everyone.”

About Mike:
Favorite professional soccer player: Christiano Ronaldo
Best soccer memory: Scoring my first goal at CB West
Part of the game I enjoy most: Intensity and pace of the game
My role models are: My Parents
Musical artist that gets me pumped before games: Basshunter and DJ Tiesto
Chocolate or vanilla: Chocolate

American Conference KickNWear Player of the Week

Rafael Villansor – Senior goalkeeper/ forward from Norristown.

Notable Accomplishment:
As Norristown’s best all-around player, Rafael Villansor is the foundation of his team. Although considered by some to be the best goalie in the American Conference, his skills do not stop there. Villansor is also a multi-dimensional player who excels at the forward position, becoming Norristown’s best field player whenever he plays up top. In his last few games, he has shined in the cage, making many big saves and keeping Norristown in most games. But he has also made many contributions while on the field, like assisting his team’s only goal against Upper Dublin last week.

Note from the Coach:
“He’s kept us in every game,” says coach, Bob Davis. “He’s the main reason that we’ve won the games we’ve won, whether while playing goalie or even while playing the field.”
