KickNWear SOL Boys’ Soccer Players of the Week*

(For week ending Sept. 18, 2010)

This weekly award is sponsored by KickNWear – a complete soccer store located in Lansdale. Winners are chosen based on nomination of coaches.

National Conference KickNWear Player of the Week

Dalton Andrusko - Junior midfielder from Council Rock North.

Notable Accomplishment:
Andrusko helped carry CR North during a week when the Indians were struggling to score goals.  He scored one to win their first game last week against Cheltenham in double overtime and another against William Tennant to help them start their league schedule off with a win. His ability to take advantage of scoring opportunities helped create momentum for his team as league play began.

Note from the coach:
“He singlehandedly raised the confidence level of our entire team,” says CR North coach, Wendell Beres.

Continental Conference KickNWear Player of the Week

Christian Benner - Senior forward from Souderton.

Notable Accomplishment:
Last week Benner led Souderton’s offensive attack, scoring two crucial goals for his team. The first came against Central Bucks South to tie the game, which the Indians went on to win. He then followed that act by scoring the game-winning goal against Perkiomen Valley with one minute remaining in double overtime.

Note from the coach:
As head coach Tom Quintois says of him: “Christian is a great kid and a terrific player.  The game tying goal against CB South and the game winner versus Perk Valley were class goals.”

American Conference KickNWear Player of the Week

Menvekeh Daramay - Senior midfielder from Upper Moreland.

Notable Accomplishment:
Menvekeh is the undisputed leader of the Golden Bears. A first team all-league player the past three years, the senior captain anchors the Bears at midfield and was a key part of a pair of wins last week, which included an important 3-1 win over PW. Menvekeh scored a goal in both wins.

Note from the Coach:
“He has been our best player for four years,” coach Jack Knauss said. “He’s such a great team leader, and he’s a well-rounded player. He’s the cog that makes the machine run. In every game, he’s double teamed, and he just makes people around him better.”

About Menvekeh:
Favorite professional soccer player: Lionel Messi
Best soccer memory: Scoring the only goal in my first game as a freshman starter against Methacton.
Part of the game I enjoy most: Self creativity. Coaches don't dictate every aspect of the game. Most are the players creating the chances with their skills.
My role models are: My foster parents (George and Grace Haegele)
Musical artist that gets me pumped before games: Eminem
Chocolate or vanilla: Vanilla all the way
