KickNWear SOL Girls’ Soccer Players of the Week
(For week ending Oct. 8, 2010)
This weekly award is sponsored by KickNWear – a complete soccer store located in Lansdale. Winners are chosen based on nomination of coaches.
National Conference KickNWear Player of the Week
Molly Phillips – Senior midfielder from Pennsbury.
Notable Accomplishment:
Phillips just recently returned to her team after a broken nose kept her sidelined the first half of the season. She immediately became a spark for Pennsbury’s offense last week when she tallied two goals and three assists. She produced two assists against Bensalem, two goals in the first ten minutes against Neshaminy, and another early assist against Abington, helping her team win two games and tie Neshaminy, 5-5.
Note from the Coach:
“Molly is the ultimate leader,” offers head coach, Kaitlyn Battiste. “She leads by example and does what is best for the team. She is not afraid to take people on but makes those around her play at their best as well.”

Continental Conference KickNWear Player of the Week
Bridgette Hess – Senior forward from Pennridge.
Notable Accomplishment:
Last week, Hess helped secure a win against a highly touted Central Bucks South team with an insurance goal to put them up 3-1. Two days later, she almost single-handedly finished off North Penn, scoring a hat trick for Pennridge en route to another 3-1 final. And as if this weren’t enough, Hess topped off her week by assisting the game winning goal against Central Bucks East in overtime.
Note from the Coach: “Bridgette has proven this week that she’s the kind of player who will step up in a game when we need someone to carry the team on her shoulders. She’s an extremely versatile player who will do anything to help her team win,” says her coach, Jordge Rodriguez.

American Conference KickNWear Player of the Week
Kristina O’Sullivan – Sophomore midfielder from Upper Merion.
Notable Accomplishment:
A sophomore tri-captain, O’Sullivan has played a variety of opponents over the course of the season for the Vikings, depending on tactics needed to face an opponent or as a result of injuries. She is physically dominant on the field with her size as well as her technical precision, and she is often able to control the part of the field she is playing.
Note from the Coach:
“Sully is truly a pleasure to have on the team,” coach Ryan Larkin said. “She always has something fun to offer and seems to brighten the day of all of her teammates. Simply put, I have never had a player who works harder on the practice field. She does not understand the concept of working below 100 percent during training. Warm-up is full speed, cool down is at full speed, and everything else in between is even faster. Academically, she is a great student taking a full array of honors classes and is also an important piece for the girls’ basketball team. I expect great things from Sully in the years to come.”
About O’Sullivan:
Favorite professional soccer player: Lionel Messi
Best memory competing in soccer: Beep Test
Part of the game I enjoy most: Playing the game with a bunch of great girls.
My role model is: Colleen Bowes
Musical artists that get me pumped before games: Life house, Paramore, Rob Thomas
Chocolate or vanilla: Chocolate - what kind of question is this?
