National Conference KickNWear Player of the Week
Alyssa Kirk – Senior defender from Neshaminy High School
Notable accomplishment:
Kirk was extremely solid while playing the center back position in Neshaminy’s season-opening wins against Downingtown West and Downingtown East. She also scored on an incredible free kick against Downingtown East which ended up being the game winner.
Note from the coach:
As Neshaminy coach Rachel Clemens puts it, “She is a senior captain with incredible leadership skills. She keeps our defense organized and strong!”
About Alyssa:
Favorite professional soccer players: Abby Wambach and Christiano Ronaldo
Best soccer memory: Doing special handshakes with Kimber, Meg, and Kate before every game.
Part of the game I enjoy most: The last five or 10 minutes when the game starts to get extremely intense, especially if we’re winning and the other team is trying to score. When it’s finally over, it feels great. I also love taking free kicks.
My role model is: Coach Clemens – she was an awesome player, and someday I hope to be a great coach and person like she is.
Musical artist that gets me pumped before games: Lil’ Wayne
Chocolate or vanilla: Chocolate!
Continental Conference KickNWear Player of the Week
Cara Armstrong – Senior defender from Central Bucks South
Notable accomplishment:
Armstrong demonstrated her commitment to the team this past week by excelling at the sweeper position, a position she has never played before. She spent the last few weeks working on her positioning in order to serve her team the best she could in a position that needed to be filled.
Note from the coach:
“Cara exhibits great work ethic on a consistent basis and is a positive role model to her teammates,” said CB South coach Joe Bocklett.
